LONDON, ENGLAND: An 11-year-old girl has been left traumatized with life-changing injuries after being viciously mauled by an ‘out of control’ dog in a "shocking and sustained" attack, police said. The victim, whose identity was not revealed by authorities, was walking on Ben Jonson Road in Stepney Green, at about 8.30 am on September 28 when she passed a man walking his two dogs.

As soon as the girl walked passed them, one of the dogs lunged at her and bit her repeatedly on the hand and arm. It was only when a passing taxi driver intervened and wrested the victim from the dog's grip that her ordeal ended. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital with life-changing injuries including broken bones. Gratefully, she now has been discharged from the hospital but is said to have been left traumatized.

A Met Police spokesman told The Sun, "Police were called at 08:31hrs to Ben Johnson Road, E1 after an 11-year-old girl was attacked by a dog. A member of the public intervened to free the victim. The owner of the dog left the scene prior to police arrival. The girl was taken to hospital for treatment to her hand - her condition is not life-threatening but may be life changing. No arrests at this time. Enquiries are ongoing."

The dog owner left the scene on Ben Jonson Road in Stepney Green before police arrived. In the search for the man in question, the Metropolitan Police on Monday, December 5 released video footage of the man. In the footage, the suspect, wearing a baseball cap, bomber jacket, and tracksuit trousers, can be seen walking one brown and one black dog on chain leads.

Releasing the footage, detective Inspector Luke Hampton said, “This was a shocking and sustained attack on a young girl as she walked to school. The incident not only left her with serious injuries – including broken bones – but has also left her traumatized. We need to quickly identify the owner of these dogs to make sure this does not happen again.”

This incident was reported just days after a girl was attacked by family dogs at home. The 16-year-old girl and her mother were both attacked by the dogs after the latter tried to intervene. The girl, who has not been identified, was initially reported to be in a serious condition after being injured during the attack at her Thousand Oaks home. Fortunately, she is expected to survive. The attack involved six large dogs, according to the Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD), which noted the girl was transported to the hospital in a serious condition. "Animal control is currently securing the dogs," a VCFD spokesperson said in a tweet. "The girl and the dogs are from the same residence."
