In what comes as the latest news in Sarah Huckabee Sanders' run for the governor of Arkansas, she was endorsed by former President Donald Trump. On Monday, January 25, night, Trump said that the "warrior" will "always fight" for the people of the state and "do what is right".

"Sarah is strong on Borders, tough on Crime, and fully supports the Second Amendment and our great law enforcement officers," Trump said in a statement. "She loves our Military and Veterans — and her home state of Arkansas," he continued. "Sarah will be a GREAT Governor, and she has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

Sanders served as Trump's White House press secretary till June 2019. At the time, she was widely encouraged by Trump to run. And even then, had only praises to sing to her name. "She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job!" Trump wrote as she was departing the White House. "I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas — she would be fantastic."

Sanders emphasized in a nearly eight-minute video that her focus will be public safety, law enforcement and censorship of conservative views. "As governor, I will defend our right to be free of socialism and tyranny, your Second Amendment right to keep your family safe and your freedom of speech and religious liberty," she said.

"Our state needs a leader with the courage to do what's right, not what's politically correct or convenient." She added, "With your support, I hope to be the first woman to lead our state as governor."

If she were to win replacing current GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson, the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, she would create something of an Arkansas political dynasty.

But social media is not too keen on her participation in the race. "Omg! You think an endorsement from Trump is a good thing? Wtf!!! #SeditionHasConsequences #fuckTrump" one tweeted in response to Sanders' tweet celebrating her endorsement from Trump. "Oh look, it’s a lying asshole who should have been charged with felony obstruction of justice trying to run for office. A criminal just like Trump. Arkansas and the US deserve better than the likes of you," another responded to her.

Even her announcement video is drawing flak for being too long. "WAYYYY too long an announcement video for Arkansas governor by Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Even presidential announcements aren't this long. And of course it's filled with the standard right wing grievances. Reality: She's completely unqualified for the job."

Twitter is not mincing words when it comes to this latest development. "Incompetent Former Trump White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announces run for Arkansas governor" Jeez what a crap show in Arkansas. How embarrassing!" A user noted, "You are not a good person @SarahHuckabee. Grow up and stop being a bully like Trump!" Another user added, "You are a garbage person. I will apply my full energies to helping ensure your defeat."

Sanders has long gained a reputation for being a Trump enabler and spokesperson. She didn't emerge unscathed from special counsel Robert Mueller's report which mentioned her admitting under oath that her assertions that members of the FBI were happy about the president's 2017 decision to fire Director James Comey were "not founded on anything".
