Let’s dig a little deeper and know more about Daniel and how he got into a relationship with Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones.
Who is Daniel Chatto?
Born on April 22, 1957, at the Princess Beatrice Hospital in Richmond, London, Daniel was the second child of Tom and Ros Chatto. His father, Thomas, acted in various TV shows and feature films while his mother was a theatrical agent.
Daniel studied English at Oxford University and graduated in 1979. Both of his parents were a part of the entertainment industry and garnered a lot of success. Daniel chose to carry forward his father’s legacy as an artist and tried his hands at acting.
The actor appeared in the hit 1981 series ‘Quartet’. He received a lot of praise for his acting and the show turned out to be a huge success for him. In 1982, he portrayed the character of Prince Andrew in the TV movie ‘Charles & Diana: A Royal Love Story’.
Little did he know that he was destined to be a member of the royal family in the near future.
Daniel and Lady Sarah's relationship
It is believed that Daniel was working in a movie called ‘Heat and Dust’ in India in 1983. He was one of the main cast members of the film while Sarah worked as a wardrobe assistant. The duo met each other for the first time on the film’s set.
However, their relationship started to blossom in 1986 and the couple was spotted going to art galleries together. In 1989, Daniel announced his retirement from acting and started his own show at the Cadogan Gallery in 1992. It is believed that the couple took a lot of trips together and had a keen interest in reading and traveling.
He reportedly proposed to her with a vintage cluster ring and Sarah said yes to his proposal.
The wedding
The couple exchanged their vows on July 14, 1994, in a small ceremony at St Stephen’s Walbrook, a 17th-century church in London. It is believed that the church was chosen by the couple because they always wanted to get married at a romantic venue. According to reports, only 200 people attended the wedding and the bride, Sarah, chose not to ride the royal carriage.
Sarah’s wedding dress was a custom creation from Jasper Conran, with yards of white georgette draped to perfection over the corset bodice and down the skirt and train. The dress inspiration came from a Holbein portrait. It is also believed that Daniel was really scared of getting late and reached the venue 90 minutes before the ceremony.
Couple extend their family
The couple welcomed their first child, son Samuel David Benedict Chatto, on July 28, 1996. Meanwhile, they had their second child, son Arthur Robert Nathaniel Chatto, on February 5, 1999, in London. The entire family was last seen together on the marriage day of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Arthur uploaded a picture from the event on his official Instagram profile.
