Even as authorities continue to arrest rioters for the Capitol Siege on January 6, new developments continue to occur weeks after the violent attacks. A Texas man, Santiago Macias, was arrested on Friday, January 22, after he was found in possession of a pistol, two loaded magazines and 79 rounds of ammo near the Ellipse in Washington, DC.

Not much is known about Macias who is from Midland. He came under the scanner when he stopped a DC police officer on bicycle patrol along Constitution Avenue NW around 11.50 am, according to NBC4. He was seen sitting in a black pickup truck and asked him if he could park there while saying he needed more information about the Oval Office. The police also said they noticed a holster mounted on his car and asked if he possessed a firearm.

Macias reportedly "nodded his head up and down and stated 'yes'," cops said in the incident report. "The recovered weapon appeared to be fully functional, is designed to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive... and is capable of being fired by the use of a second hand. The weapon was in between the driver's seat and the centre console." More details come in the form of Scott MacFarlane, NBC4's reporter, who provided a screengrab that contained more details.

"S-1 stated he needed more information about the Oval Office. AO noticed a firearm holster mounted under the center dash of the vehicle. AO asked S-1 if he had a firearm in the vehicle and S-1 nodded his head up and down and stated 'yes'. AO radioed for an additional unit. AO approached the driver's side and asked S-1 to step out of the vehicle and place his hands behind his back and that he was detained."

The screengrab added: "AO then detained S-1. AAO-1 (G. Rutherford #1565) arrived on the scene and made contact with S-1. AA0-1 asked where the firearm was located. S-1 told AAO-1 was in between the driver's side seat between the center console. AAO-1 then recovered a Smith and Wesson .40 cal pistol and placed it on the floorboard and notified Crime Scene. The recovered weapon appeared to be fully functional, is designed to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive, has a barrel length of less than 12 inches and is capable of being fired by the use of a second hand."

Police said Macias was arrested for carrying a pistol without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of unregistered ammunition. The 37-year-old said he spoke little English and was then provided with a translator. This incident comes two days after Joe Biden's inauguration.

Ahead of the ceremony, former President Donald Trump authorized Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide the required assistance from Monday through January 24. The declaration stated: "Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment, and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency protective measures, limited to direct Federal assistance, will be provided at 100 percent Federal funding."
