'Maybe we could have survived': Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves' close shave with love
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are two of the most loved stars of Hollywood. The two have created magic on screen with the 1994 film ‘Speed’ and 2006’s ‘The Lake House’. It has also been said that during the shooting of ‘Speed’ they had a crush on each other. But they never went official.
A few years ago, however, Bullock shared on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ as per Harper's Bazaar, “I think about how sweet Keanu Reeves was and how handsome he was. It was hard for me to really be serious. He would look at me and I'd be like [giggles],” before mentioning, “There's just something about me that I guess he didn't like.”

‘I don’t think there’s anyone who has something horrible to say about him’
The 58-year-old recalled some moments from the filming of the movie too. She said, “My dress sort of kept flying up and I said, ‘Whatever you do, just keep my dress down. The whole stunt he just made sure my dress [stayed down]. It was very sweet.”
‘The Matrix’ star also appeared on the famous talk show sometime later and confessed, “She obviously didn't know I had a crush on her.” But the actress’ admiration for Reeves did not end there since in 2021, the actress told Esquire, “Keanu’s a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he’s ever dated. I don’t think there’s anyone who has something horrible to say about him. So maybe we could have survived. I don’t know.”
“But we didn’t have to survive anything. We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for dinner and try to work together. And the longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being. Would I have been able to say that if he had dumped me and made me angry? Probably not,” Bullock stated.
‘That's what I mean that it drives you crazy’
The ‘Miss Congeniality’ actress also went on to mention a story when Reeves came to her house with champagne and truffles since she had not tried them. She said, “That's what I mean that it drives you crazy. When I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable.”
“And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get. And I thought I don't understand what was happening! He's looking at me with eyes of confusion. He's quiet. Did I say something to offend him? And then a day or two later, he would arrive with a note or a little package, saying, 'I thought about what you said.' And he would have his response,” Bullock added.
Besides, ‘The Proposal’ star reportedly once expressed, “I would love nothing more than to do a comedy with Keanu before we die. Just laugh with him. He’s funny. We can be seventy-five — it’ll be even better than, like an old-people Cocoon thing. We play two funny old people. A road trip. Just put us in an RV as old people. It’ll be the bookend of Speed! We’ll just be driving really slowly. Pissing the world off. There’s our movie.”
