San Diego Padres pitcher Jacob Nix breaks into Arizona home through doggie door, gets tased by owner
San Diego Padres pitcher Jacob Nix was arrested for breaking into an Arizona home via the doggie door. The owner of the house kicked Nix in the face and had attacked him with a taser.
23-year-old Nix who hails from California had been arrested and charged with criminal trespassing for breaking into a home located in Peoria, Arizona on October 6. At around 3.30 am, Nix had entered the home through the doggie door though it is not known why Nix was trying to enter the house.
The unidentified homeowner then confronted the pitcher and had proceeded to kick him in the face. As reported by ABC15, the authorities shared that another man, Thomas Cosgrove, 23, who plays for Padres' minor league, the Lake Elsinore Storm, then reached through the doggie door and pulled Nix out.
The two then attempted to run away. However, as they tried to run, the owner of the house leaned out of the doggie door and used his taser on Nix. The owner then proceeded to call the cops who found and arrested the pair on a few streets away. In light of the incident, the San Diego Padres released a statement, "We are aware of the alleged incident involving Jacob Nix last Sunday in Arizona".
"We take this matter seriously and have been in contact with the Commissioner's Office and local authorities. Due to ongoing legal proceedings, we will not have any further comment at this time," the statement continued. Nix had been drafted by the Padres in 2015 and had spent around five seasons with them.
He had pitched nine games for the Padres in 2018 but had got injured and was out most of the last season. He is currently undergoing plasma treatments for his injured elbow and rehabilitation and pitched six games in the minor league this season.
