Kylie Jenner may be embroiled in controversy over her "billionaire" status but the 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. She is currently being slammed for reportedly setting up a GoFundMe for make-up artist Samuel Rauda, but it seems like she didn't set it up after all. Nevertheless, the reality star is facing the heat for asking people to donate when she is a "billionaire".
The 26-year-old Rauda was injured in an accident over the weekend, which has left his famous celebrity clients praying for him. He underwent major surgery on Sunday, March 14. Here's what's we know about the make-up artist.

Who is Samuel Rauda?

Samuel Rauda has been in the beauty industry for a long time. The artist has more than 260,000 loyal followers and is at the top with a heavy celebrity clientele including Kylie Jenner, Chrissy Teigen, Olivia Culpo, Bella Thorne, Stassie Karanikolaou, Khloe Kardashian, Nikita Dragon and 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Erika Jayne.

The beauty guru's YouTube channel, which now shows behind-the-scenes looks at his various photoshoots and sessions with clients, was started in May 2009. He was featured in a 2017 Yahoo article calling him one of the “9 Makeup Artists You Need to Follow on Instagram”, which praised him for his prowess.

Rauda is also an activist who actively posted videos and photos from the Black Lives Matter protests held in Los Angeles in June 2020, sparked by the death of George Floyd. An Instagram video uploaded by him showed him marching down a Hollywood street with a large group of fellow demonstrators as they held up signs and demanded justice. He captioned the video, “Black Lives Matter! #peaceful protest.”

What happened to him?

Rauda met with a horrific accident last week, in which he was thrown off a moving vehicle. A friend, known on YouTube as La Demi, revealed the incident on her Instagram story.

Sharing a link to his GoFundMe, she wrote, “This weekend @makeupbysamuel went into brain surgery and is still in the hospital on a road towards a very long recovery. An awful accident happened & he flew off a moving vehicle crushing his head into the pavement, suffering from internal bleeding and 8 different injuries to his brain. The surgery went well and now we are all just waiting for when Sam wakes.”

Elaborating on the accident in his GoFundMe, Rauda's family wrote: “Sam underwent major surgery on Sunday, 3/14/21. He has a long road to recovery ahead of him. I know he is loved by many. Your donations will help cover the cost of his medical expenses and whats to come. Please know that a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated. The Lord bless you abundantly!”

'The wrong people have money'

Fans wondered why the Raudas needed to set up a GoFundMe when the makeup artist was hired by "billionaire" Kylie Jenner. Jenner's current net worth, however, stands at $700 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Jenner wrote in an Instagram story: “May God watch over you and protect you @makeupbysamuel everyone take a moment to say a prayer for Sam who got into an accident this past weekend. And swipe up to visit his families go fund me.”

"Kylie Jenner posts pictures of her closet with purses worth 100,000 plus dollars, poses seductively in front of her many vehicles, while asking fans to donate to her friends medical surgery when she could have paid it quietly and made it back in a day? She’s the embodiment of ego," wrote a user.

"wait so kylie jenner’s make up artist got into a car accident and needed $60k for emergency brain surgery and she asked her fans to donate???? and then only donated $5,000 when she’s a literal billionaire? the wrong people have money," noted another. "I have enemies that are better friends than Kylie Jenner," quipped a user.

"Kylie Jenner is a whole ass 'billionaire', and she asks us to donate? Umm hello? Use your own money! We’re in a pandemic still. Cunt," said a user. Another wrote, "Kylie Jenner apparently makes $450k A DAY but is asking strangers to donate 60k to pay her friends medical bills.. in a pandemic, when most people can barely afford to pay their own bills? wow, very character telling. this is the person people stan."

A user wrote, "I don’t know what’s worse, Kylie Jenner sharing the go fund me, or her makeup artist not having enough funds themselves - like, she a billionaire and wears makeup on the daily , they better be getting paid top dollar".
