TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA: Tom Brady fans teared up after the Super Bowl champion announced his retirement in an emotional message. In an emotional social media post on Wednesday, February 1, the 45-year-old quarterback revealed his retirement from the NFL after 23 seasons, the last three of which he spent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady started his message by saying, “Hey guys I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring for good. I know the process was a pretty big deal last time so when I woke up this morning I just pressed record and let you guys know first. It won’t be longwinded. You only get one emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year.”

“Really, thank you guys so much. To every single one of you for supporting me, my family my friends, my teammates, and my competitors, I could go on forever. There are too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. I love you all,” he added. As expected several Brady and NFL fans came out and shared their emotional messages for the NFL legend.

'I'm getting teary-eyed'

One person wrote on Twitter, “Thank you! Congrats on one of the greatest careers in sports history! And the way you carried yourself, lead, and improved the lives of others through that process!” “Tom no don’t retire,” another added. Several also came forward on Instagram and delivered heartfelt messages for their beloved star. One person wrote, “I’m getting teary-eyed watching this. Sad to see you go.”

“Respect! The tone in your voice said a lot. Walking away from a game you love that you can still compete in. Your level of obsession, passion, and commitment to the game inspired people in many industries outside of the NFL. You’re one of a kind. Wish you nothing but the very best!” yet another user remarked.

A look at Tom Brady's career

Brady played for the New England Patriots for the first 20 years of his NFL career, where he won six Super Bowls. He joined the Buccaneers in 2020 and helped them win the Super Bowl in February 2021.
