Rudy Giuliani dubbed 'hypocrite' for using affidavit ballot to vote and then bashing it to overturn poll results

How is it that Giuliani, who had baselessly claimed for a long time that the high number of provisional ballots cast in Pennsylvania proved instances of fraud, used the same method to vote?

Rudy Giuliani must have really wanted to vote for President Donald Trump in the 2020 November elections. It now comes to attention that Trump's personal lawyer voted in Manhattan by an affidavit ballot. Also known as a provisional ballot, Giuliani resorted to the voting method despite publicly bashing and ridiculing it in an attempt to overturn the results of the election.

According to an investigation from CNN KFile, the former mayor of New York and one of Trump's strongest allies — even at a time when most of his friends have abandoned him — voted by an affidavit ballot after his name did not appear on the voter rolls when he went to cast his vote. What makes this scandalous is that Giuliani spent months defending and reiterating Trump's baseless allegations of widespread voter fraud and even challenging the use of provisional ballots altogether. He strongly criticised the voting method in the months leading up to the election and even after that.

According to records obtained by the news outlet, Giuliani's registration was moved to his Long Island home in August and his registration in New York City was purged in September. He informed CNN that he did not know why his registration was moved to his Long Island home in August and contested that he changed his registration at all. In a statement to the news outlet, he claimed that he never registered to vote elsewhere and said his case was another example of voter irregularities, if not fraud from the New York State Board of Elections.

A spokesperson for the New York City Board of Elections told CNN that the vote was valid and would be counted. "I have never been registered anywhere else. I have voted in NY County for 28 years and not move [sic]. I was US Attorney there and Mayor. This was one of NY State's numerous voter irregularities, if not voter fraud. The signature on the Suffolk County registration is clearly a fraud," Giuliani told the publication in a text message.

How is that Giuliani, who had baselessly claimed for a long time that the high number of provisional ballots cast in Pennsylvania proved instances of fraud, used the same method to cast his vote? He also added without evidence that voters were given provisional ballots when they showed up to vote after Democrats voted on their behalf.

"To give you another example, we have 17,000 provisional ballots cast in Pittsburgh. Do you know what a provisional ballot is? Provisional ballot usually happens [sic] this way, and about 15 of the 17,000 happened this way: you walk in and you say, 'I'm here to vote today.' 'Oh, Mr. Giuliani, you already voted.' 'I did? I don't remember voting.' 'Oh, yes. Yes. You cast an absentee ballot.' 'No, I didn't.' 'Yes, you did.' 'No, I didn't.' 'Yes, you did,'" Giuliani had said. "Why did it happen 15,000 times that people in Pittsburgh walked in to vote and they had already voted, according to the Democrat election machine? Did they forget? That many people with bad memories in Pittsburgh? Or is the following correct, that, as witnesses will testify, they were instructed by the Democrat bosses when they had a ballot in which there was no one registered, just assign it to somebody, just assign it to Rudy Giuliani. So, maybe Rudy Giuliani won't show up to vote. And, if he does show up to vote, we'll give him a provisional ballot."

"Rudy Giuliani voted with an affidavit ballot, which he bashed in failed effort to overturn election," CNN's Jake Tapper took to Twitter to share.

And it has caused quite a stir as Giuliani's hypocrisy comes to light. "It was good enough for Rudy, but if people of color or non-Trump voters use them it is clearly fraud. Just got to love the logic that never shows in their arguments," one tweeted. "OFC he did. They’re all hypocrites," another added. "Of course he did. His issue is when black people use this method. Those are fraudulent in his mind," a user concurred.
