Former President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani was mocked after he misspelled Chinese President Xi Jinping's name when he asked whether President Joe Biden had enquired about the spread of coronavirus during his phone call with China.

Biden called Xi for the first time after taking office on Wednesday, February 10, where he talked for two hours. "Last night, I was on the phone for two straight hours with Xi Jinping," Biden said on Thursday, February 11, as he met with a bipartisan group of senators to discuss infrastructure in the Oval Office.

"And you all know as well as I do, these folks — and it was a good conversation I know him well we've spent a lot of time together over the years I was vice president. But, you know, if we don't get moving, they're going to eat our lunch," he added, outlining China's efforts to invest in rail and other transportation.

Rudy Giuliani admits Trump was billed $20K a day for post-election services but maintains he was unaware of it

A range of issues was discussed between world leaders in the introductory call against the backdrop of escalating tensions between the two countries. However, Giuliani wanted to specifically know whether the POTUS asked Xi about the Covid-19 pandemic that many have alleged originated from the country he was leading. The tweet did not quite have the effect Giuliani might have hoped for as he ended up hilariously misspelling Xi's name.

"Biden has first conversation with CCP leader Zi Jingming. Did Biden mention CCP spreading virus all over the world and lying...millions died. For Zi, all in a days work. For Biden, it's just keeping multi-million dollar partner satisfied," Giuliani wrote.

Needless to say, people on Twitter soon started mocking the lawyer for his error. "Please let there be a man named Zi Jingming who is chairman of CCP Total Landscaping," one of them said while another wrote, "Rudy sure does have some tough imaginary conversations with Zi Jingming."

A user remarked, "Xi Jinping is the leader of China. Zi Jingming is ... an assortment of letters." One more commented, "I hope Zi Jingming is having a happy Lunar New Year, whoever he or she is." Another quipped, "Zi Jingming is the president of Thighland."

The next said, "zi jingming, xi's stunt double." One more wrote, "Rudy uncovers Communist leader Zi Jingming's brilliant plan to kill millions by exploiting the knowledge that the United States is completely incompetent." A commenter tweeted, "Is Zi Jingming related to Bao Zenbong?" One more said, Congratulations to Zi Jingming for becoming a new Chairman."

Another wrote, "Zi Jingming is the baby of Xi Jinping and Jiang Zemin." A person reacted, "Rudy Giuliani: 'I hold Zi Jingming responsible for all of this.' Xi Jinping: 'So do I.'" Another said, "Zi Jingming is Xi Jinping's crazy, drunk cousin. Rudy knows him well."

During his phone call with Xi, Biden reportedly prioritized economic and military issues and discussed potential areas of cooperation, including climate change and nuclear proliferation. He also called China out on a range of issues related to its misuse of technology, unfair trade, and human rights abuses, a senior official said.

Biden planned to "indicate that this isn't just about American values, it's about universal values," the senior official said before the phone call. A White House readout of the call released on Wednesday, February 11, evening said Biden "affirmed his priorities of protecting the American people's security, prosperity, health, and way of life, and preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific."

Biden "underscored his fundamental concerns about Beijing's coercive and unfair economic practices, crackdown in Hong Kong, human rights abuses in Xinjiang, and increasingly assertive actions in the region, including toward Taiwan," the readout added.

The Biden administration will not be removing Trump administration's tariffs on China. "We have maintained the tariffs that were laid down over the course of the past few years, not because we think that that trade war was particularly successful, but rather because we believe that we have to very carefully, in consultation with allies and partners, in consultation with the Congress, work through the sources of leverage we have," the senior official said.
