What better way to start the new year than with 'RuPaul's Drag Race'? Season 13 of the hit TV show aired today and viewers were introduced to 13 new queens, all ready to battle it out for the crown. But, this season seems like it's going to be full of unexpected twists and turns, and viewers were treated to these plot twists immediately.

Every seasoned 'Drag Race' fan knows that the first episode is where the queens get to meet each other, participate in a mini or maxi (or sometimes both) challenge. By the end of the episode, we see two queens lip-sync for their lives, and it is here that one of their journeys come to an end. Season 13, however, seems to have chucked this format right out the window. As the queens entered in pairs, each pair was made to lip-sync for their lives in front of the judges, Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews and RuPaul. The queen who got to stay was then ushered to the Untucked Lounge, while the one who got the 'Pork Chop' made their way to the Pork Chop Lounge.

The pairs that faced off were:

Kandy Muse, Joey Jay (VH1)

Kandy Muse and Joey Jay lip-synced to 'Call Me Maybe' by Carly Rae Jepsen. Kandy Muse won.

Denali, LaLa Ri (VH1)

Denali and LaLa Ri lip-synced to 'When I Grow Up' by the Pussycat Dolls. LaLa Ri won.

Symone, Tamisha Iman (VH1)

Symone and Tamisha Iman lip-synced to 'Pleasure Principles' by Janet Jackson. Symone won.

Gottmik, Utica Queen (VH1)

Gottmik and Utica Queen lip-synced to 'Rumours' by Lindsay Lohan (and Twitter collectively lost it's mind). Gottmik won.

Rose, Olivia Lux (VH1)

Rose and Olivia Lux lip-synced to 'Ex's and Oh's' by Elle King. Olivia Lux won.

Tina Burner, Kahmora Hall, Elliott with 2 T's (VH1)

Tina Burner, Kahmora Hall and Elliott with 2 Ts lip-synced to Lady Marmalade. Tina Burner won.

Joey Jay, Denali, Tamisha Iman, Utica Queen, Rose, Kahmora Hall and Elliott with 2 Ts all got the 'pork chop' and found themselves in the bottom. While it looked like they could've all gotten eliminated, we soon find out that that's not the case. Instead, in an All Star-esque twist, these bottom queens have to now eliminate someone from their group. The eliminated queen will officially be the first one to leave the season, seeing that there were no eliminations today. Speculations are obviously flying all over the place and everyone is curious to know who gets chopped. While the cast has been tweeting about the episode, Rose's tweet has us questioning everything.

"WELL!!! I’VE BEEN DREADING THIS EPISODE FOR MONTHS FOR OBVIOUS REASONS LOL — but damn. How fun. I’m so proud. HI EVERYONE! I’m Rosé! Stay tuned" she tweeted. This could probably be in reference to the fact that she, a veteran drag queen and performer was taken out by Olivia Lux, a newbie drag queen. Their battle was even more ironic, seeing that not too long ago, Olivia participated in a competition that Rose was hosting. Could Rose be hinting at that awkward situation or is there more to it? Looks like we're going to have to tune in to find out.
