KABUL, AFGHANISTAN: Ex-marine Pen Farthing has accused Prince Harry of putting his life in "mortal danger" when he claimed he killed 25 Taliban fighters during his deployment to Afghanistan. The former Marine, who has been active in reintroducing stray animals, called Harry an "idiot" and said he did not think twice before putting the lives of other Britons in danger. 'Well I was a Royalist until today. Cheers #PrinceHarry You have been very badly advised I would probably say. And glad you thought through the security implications of those of us still out in #Afghanistan trying to bring about some good. #idiot #notmyprince," he tweeted.

The 53-year-old came into the spotlight after he made an all-out attempt to rescue stray animals from the streets of Kabul through his charity Nowzad. Farthing has successfully placed around 170 stray cats and dogs from Afghanistan into new homes. Prince Harry wrote in his memoir 'Spare' that he viewed Taliban fighters not as "as people" but as "chess pieces" he had taken off the board. "Not a fact that filled me with satisfaction, but I was not ashamed either," his book says.

Farthing's tweet garnered comments from several netizens, as there were supporters for both sides. In his follow-up tweet, he wrote, “To the idiots who made dumbass comments in support of #PrinceHarry in my tweet below, know I have had to evacuate from #Kabul tonight in case of potential reprisal attacks on ex-forces people like me in the wake of his badly judged memoir.. the animals suffer not me. You happy?” Ex-British army Commander Colonel Richard Kemp also commented on Prince Harry's recent claim, “publicly announcing that he had killed 25 Taliban fighters in Afghanistan is like shooting himself in the foot”, he wrote to the Express. He emphasized that it will only be going to “rekindle jihadist animosity” and would “incite some who want to take revenge”.

The other known ex-Royal Marine Ben McBean, who served alongside Harry and shared an RAF flight reacted on social media, “Love you #PrinceHarry but you need to shut up! Makes you wonder about the people he’s hanging around with. If it was good people somebody by now would have told him to stop.” Prince Harry specified for the first time the number of insurgents he neutralized during his time in Afghanistan twice, once in 2007-2008, and in 2012, when flew an Apache attack helicopter, as per DailyMail.
