The St Clairs and Lodges left off on almost fatal terms, so why is the youngest St Claire back in Riverdale?

Spoilers for 'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 12: 'Chapter Sixty-Nine: Men of Honor'

There were many story lines that shadowed the episode on February 5 of the much-awaited crossover of 'Katy Keene' meets 'Riverdale.' While that may have been a tad bit of a letdown, we got to see the narrative of characters being pushed forward and that means we are closer to answers to long due questions. While the thriller series may be known to have its share of surprises, one we didn't expect was the return of Nicholas 'Nick' St Clair (Graham Phillips).

Let's recap where the St Clair's and the Lodges left off, and why we think Nick is back and is dangerous.

A friend from Veronica 'Vee' Lodges' (Camila Mendes) past, Nick had come to 'Riverdale' (Season 2) to rekindle the romance with Vee only to realize that she was dating Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) at the time. After getting comfortable with Vee's gang, Nick hosted a party at the Five Seasons hotel where he forced himself onto Vee. Of course, Vee turned him down and Nick being the devious rich boy that he is, turned his attention to red-headed beauty Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) at the SoDale Gala Opening.

With an inflated ego hovering over already proud shoulders, Nick drugs Cheryl and attempts to rape her. After the Pussycats saved Cheryl, news spread fast leading to Nick fleeing the murder capital of the world with his parents.

They paid off Cheryl's mother Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt) to drop the charges but what they didn't expect was the fury of the senior Lodges.

After finding out that Nick forced himself on Veronica, the youngest Lodge gets news that the Lodges do no more business with the St Clair's and that Nick was severely injured in an accident. If you know Hiram (Mark Consuelos) and Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols), then you know that it was no accident and their daughter never doubted their "evil" one bit. So you can see why we worry that the youngest St Clair, who knows the world of mobsters and money all too well, is now back in Riverdale and in the Maple Club no less.

Now, in the present times, Cheryl has managed to put the past behind her and is moved to tears when she sees Nick at the Maple Club talking to Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan), her girlfriend and the leader of the Pretty Poisons. After Cheryl confides in Tony about what Nick tried to do, Toni decides on unconventional revenge. She drugs Nick and has Kevin Keller (Casey Cott) and Fangs Fogarty (Drew Ray Tanner) make a "tickle porn" video to use to blackmail Nick if he ever decides to assault another woman.

As much as we would like to believe that this is the end of the St Clair and Lodge beef, we know better than to expect this from a family of rich mob bosses. If we had to conjure up the most realistic approach, it would be that Nick is back for revenge, and considering how sour his last duel with the Lodges went, we would say he has reason to be mad. We can't help but think that Vee might be in danger, especially since she's selling rum illegally with Cheryl in a former brothel that has one deserving prisoner, Penelope Blossom.

Teenagers in 'Riverdale' don't take disrespect lightly, when will Nick St Clair get the memo?

Riverdale airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm EST on The CW.

The season premiere of 'Katy Keene' is set to debut on February 6 at 8 pm EST on The CW.
