Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) has always been her father's favorite rival and in this episode, titled 'Quiz Show', we see that their "rum war" is back with a vengeance. Having been sued by Hiram Lodge (Mark Consuelos) based on the fact that the chemical composition of her rum recipe was too similar to that of the "Lodge Family Recipe," Veronica finds her secret weapon. The Blossoms run a Maple Syrup franchise and now Veronica's rum business has found a way to fit into that equation.

Veronica had her genius rolling when she proposed to Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) that maple tasting rum would be a good idea. Cheryl, a red-hooded archer and Veronica, a woman on a mission to take down her father, team up to create a fabulous original recipe. The final result was confirmed to not conform to the "Lodge Family Recipe," by their science teacher at school. Boasting to Hiram that he has no bounds to sue them anymore, the duo use criminal law loopholes to promote their recipe at the La Bonne Nuit, Veronica's Speakeasy. They turn the Speakeasy into a dance club while giving out free shots of their rum - no alcohol was served at the event, as ordered by the law.

Unfortunately, after their attempt to get orders for their rum out in the rich and famous world, Hiram raids the Speakeasy and smashes bottles of the Maple Rum as dramatically as he could. With a father that won't quit his incessant raids and egoistic need to always win and bottles of the rum still being made at Thistle House, the duo move their talent to a location that attracts their target crowd - the rich, drunk and desperate. Cheryl, a woman with ruthless determination suggests that Hiram needs a distraction and they, along with their rum, need to get off the radar.

Continuing to run a dance club reeking with the possibility of underage alcohol drinking and selling, they provide Hiram with a clever front as they take their rum magic to The Maple Club - a former brothel. Madam Red Dahlia, Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt), Cheryl's mother makes her first appearance since the show premiered midseason with the continuation of Season 4. Having being put in a bunker to rot out her days for the crimes she committed, Cheryl gives her a chance to repay her debt to society.

The deal? The Red Dahlia wears a mask and stays bound within the walls of The Maple Club on house arrest while the girls continue as senior River Vixens with a side hustle of Maple Rum.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
