'Katy Keene' crosses over to 'Riverdale' as the show gets ready for its debut
'Katy Keene', The CW's new Archieverse drama is days away from its premiere but that's not the only exciting news. Executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi said, "We all thought it would be super fun to do a crossover that took Veronica to Katy’s world — New York City — and established Katy in the 'Riverdale' universe."
On December 4, 2019, Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted "The news is out! Veronica’s going to NYC and #Katykeene is coming to #Riverdale! So excited for our first #Archiverse crossover!!" Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted on December 4 confirming the crossover of 'Riverdale' and 'Katy Keene.' Lucy Hale, the star of The CW's 2020 'Katy Keene' will make an appearance as a guest star in Season 4 Episode 12 of 'Riverdale' titled 'Chapter Sixty-Nine: Men of Honor.' The crossover will happen on February 5, 2020, at 8 pm ET on The CW, a day before the 'Katy Keane' premiere on February 6, 2020, at 8 pm ET on The CW.
The crossover episode will see Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) take a trip to New York to visit Katy, an "old friend" creating the connection between The CW shows. The official synopsis reads, "Lucy Hale guest stars as Katy Keene — Archie (KJ Apa) grows concerned for Frank (guest star Ryan Robbins) after someone from his past arrives in Riverdale. Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Alice’s (Mädchen Amick) investigation into incidents at Stonewall Prep leads them on a collision course with their number one suspect. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) challenges Bret (guest star Sean Depner) to a duel to settle their grievances, while Toni (Vanessa Morgan), Kevin (Casey Cott) and Fangs (guest star Drew Ray Tanner) seek revenge against Nick St. Clair (guest star Graham Phillips), who has shown up unexpectedly in Riverdale. Finally, a trip to New York City gives Veronica (Camila Mendes) an opportunity to catch up with her old friend Katy Keene (guest star Lucy Hale)."
'Katy Keene' is a spinoff that is set five years into the future following the events happening in 'Riverdale'. The friendship between both characters has already been portrayed earlier this season on 'Riverdale' when Veronica reached out to Keene to help make Halloween costumes for Archie and Munro.
'Riverdale' airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm ET on The CW and the first episode of 'Katy Keene' is set to debut on February 6, 2020, at 8 pm ET on The CW.
