'Riverdale': Veronica set to take a trip to Katy Keene's world in Archiverse crossover before The CW show's premiere
Earlier this year, Aguirre-Sacasa, executive producer for both The CW shows 'Riverdale' and upcoming 'Katy Keene' had hinted at a possibility of the crossover between the characters of the shows saying, "We'll definitely try and make that happen."
The crossover of the worlds of 'Riverdale' and 'Katy Keene' has now been confirmed with a tweet by the showrunner himself.
"The news is out! Veronica’s going to NYC and #Katykeene is coming to #Riverdale! So excited for our first #Archiverse crossover!!" Aguirre-Sacasa tweeted on December 4.
E! News reported that Lucy Hale, the star of The CW's 2020 'Katy Keane' will make an appearance as a guest star in an upcoming 'Riverdale' episode that will air on February 5, 2020 at 8/7c on The CW, which fans have excitedly pointed out is the day before the 'Katy Keane' debut.
Executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi said, "Before 'Katy Keene' officially premieres, we all thought it would be super fun to do a crossover that took Veronica to Katy's world — New York City — and established Katy in the 'Riverdale' universe."
The synopsis of the crossover is said to be that when Veronica Lodge heads to the big apple for a college interview, she checks in with an old friend, Katy Keene and the two go on a shopping spree together — which of course is quite fitting for Keene's character, and, well Lodge's too.
'Katy Keene' is a spinoff that is set five years into the future following the events happening in 'Riverdale'. The friendship between both characters has already been portrayed earlier this season on 'Riverdale' when Veronica reached out to Keene to help make Halloween costumes for Archie and Munro.
'Riverdale' Season 4 airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on The CW while the first episode of 'Katy Keane' will air on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 8 pm on The CW.
