Who is Ryan Grantham? Ex-'Riverdale' actor who MURDERED his mother planned to kill Justin Trudeau
VANCOUVER, CANADA: Former 'Riverdale' actor admitted to murdering his mother and revealed that he also wanted to kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Ryan Grantham, who played the role of Jeffery Augustine on the hit series, has pled guilty to second-degree murder for shooting his mother on March 6. He faces life in prison.
Grantham shot his mother Barbara Waite, 64, in the back of her head as she was playing the piano in their home in British Columbia on March 31, 2020. On his way to kill the Canadian prime minister, the 24-year-old murderer confessed his crimes to authorities.

Grantham had a hearing on Monday, June 13 where the prosecutors said that Grantham's vehicle was packed with three guns, some ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, some camping supplies, and a sheet with directions to the Rideau Cottage which is the home of Trudeau in Ottawa. CBC News reported that his private journal was read in court, which revealed the 24-year-old's intentions to murder Trudeau.
However, Grantham only drove a few hours east before turning around and having a change of heart about killing people on the Vancouver's Lions Gate Bridge. Instead, he went to the Vancouver police headquarters and approached a police officer who was inside a car. He told the cop, "I killed my mother."
According to the New York Post, the court heard that months after killing his mother, he felt hopeless and had a strong desire to commit violence. It was also reported that he thought of committing suicide and had intense feelings of anger, anxiousness, and being a failure. Grantham used to rehearse shooting his mother and one of these rehearsals was caught on his Go-Pro. Footage showed his mother's dead body and the murderer saying, "I shot her in the back of the head. In the moments after, she would have known it was me.”
He wrote in his journal on March 31, "I’m so sorry mom, I’m so sorry Lisa … I hate myself.” According to what he told the cops, Grantham went out to get money, some weed, and beer and then experimented with making some Molotov cocktails and watched some Netflix before he covered his mother's body in a sheet and went to bed.
After his sister Lisa could not get a hold of their mother via calls or texts, she went home and found their mother's dead body. In court, Lisa said, "How can I trust anybody when my only sibling chose to execute my mom when her back was turned." Grantham had hung a rosary on the piano and arranged lit candles around his late mother's body. He pled guilty to the murder on March 9 in BC Supreme Court and faces life in prison.
