'The Rise of Phoenixes' starring Chen Kun and Ni Ni in the roles of Ning Yi and Feng Zhiwei respectively has stolen the hearts of many for its portrayal of royal politics, romance and especially the production design. While the show did not fare well in Mainland China,t he uncut version that was aired on Netflix, however, changed the fate of the show. It became a huge hit among foreign audiences. 1. Nirvana in Fire
The show originally aired in 2015 and featured Hu Ge, Liu Tao and Wang Kai in starring roles. The series based on the book of the same name is written by Hai Yan and is one of the most popular Wuxia (stories based on heroes who perform martial arts in ancient China) film in recent times. Directed by Kong Sheng and Li Xue, it is a tale of a man, Lin Shu, who enters the palace under an alias to disprove that his family was traitorous. He wants to find what really happened 12 years ago when his family was labelled as traitorous. The show consists of 54 episodes and is available on streaming service Rakuten Viki.
