Riley Hedley and Mikey Easton: Teens who never left each other’s side die together in horror crash
NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND: Two teenage boys died Sunday night, March 12, in a crash on the A196 ear Coopies Way in Morpeth, Northumberland. 17-year-old Riley Hedley and Mikey Easton, 16, were reportedly friends and “were never apart” from each other. Their sudden deaths have left their families shattered.
In a statement, Northumbria Police said, “Two teenage boys have sadly lost their lives following a collision in the Morpeth area – and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Shortly after 12.40 am today, we received a report of a collision on the A196 near Coopies Way. Emergency services attended the scene but sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, two teenagers, aged 17 and 16, passed away at the scene.”

Cops ask for public's help
“Both families are currently being supported by specialist officers at this tragic time. An investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. We are now appealing for any witnesses, especially anyone who might have dashcam footage, to come forward. Our thoughts go out to both the young men’s families and close ones as they attempt to come to terms with today’s devastating news. We will support them in every way we can and ask that the privacy of both families is respected,” the statement added.
The double tragedy has attracted heartwrenching tributes from the young men’s families and friends. “Hardest post ever fly high my beautiful little boy... totally gutted, devastated hope you are at peace my little angel dad and mam love you so much. RIP Mikey Easton RIP Riley Hedley taken far too soon... you were never apart and then taken together too soon,” Mikey's father said, as reported by The Mirror.
‘You were always there for me’
Mikey's sister Ebony Easton posted on Facebook, “Rest in peace riley and Mikey❤️ I can’t believe you are gone it doesn’t feel real, we miss you so much already, honestly I don’t know what to say I’m still so shocked your gone but we had some great times and even better memories.”
She also shared, “I grew up with you by my side always even if we wernt always on the best of terms but you were always there for me no matter what you were the best little brother anyone could ever ask for I love you so much, I’m gutted this has happend and youl never get to meet your little nephew he would have loved you so much, I hope yous are resting well 💖.”
An acquaintance of the victims, Sadie Charlton, stated, “Rest in peace Mikey Easton most devastating news you will be missed by so many, my heart goes out to his family and everyone who knew him, hope you are all doing okay, he was an amazing lad with a heart of gold, can’t believe you are gone. ❤️❤️ also rest in peace Riley Hedley, didn’t really know him but met him a few times and he seemed like a nice lad, I am sending love to both boys family’s, they will both be a big miss. It’s heartbreaking that these two lads have been taken far to soon.”
Emily Makepeace added, “Heart goes out to the family and friends of Riley Hedley and Mikey Easton, both canny young lads and still doesn’t feel real they are both gone and feels so surreal that I was speaking to them both on Saturday night, taken far too soon and can’t believe what the family and friends of these two young men are going through right now and hope they are all getting the help and support they need and deserve 💙💙.”
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe has been started for the teens’ families. The fundraiser said, “Sadly on the 12/03/2023 we lost two of our close friends Riley and mikey were two very loved boys and the best of friends , they both tragically passed in a car accident together and it’s left a big impact on all of us and there family My heart goes out to both families at this time , as a community in times like this we should all gather together and try support both of the boys families all funds will be donated towards funeral costs.”
