Plot

History’s channel synopsis of the documentary says, ‘Revealed: The Hunt for Bin Laden’ tracks the ten-year effort to find Osama bin Laden, the man responsible for the 9/11 attacks. Based on the 9/11 Memorial & Museum’s unprecedented access to American intelligence and military personnel, the film recounts how President Barack Obama ordered a small group of Navy SEALs to raid a mysterious building in Pakistan, without being sure that bin Laden was there. Featuring interviews with President Obama, CIA Director Leon Panetta, mission commander Admiral William McRaven, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and, for the first time, clandestine military planners, intelligence analysts, members of the assault force, and more, the film reveals the risks and tensions of a mission whose purpose was clear, but whose outcome was never certain.”

Eli Lehrer, executive vice president and head of programming for The History Channel said, “Over the last 20 years, The HISTORY Channel has been committed to never forgetting the events of September 11 that changed this world forever by honoring the heroic individuals who perished or played an important role in that tragic time in our history. Our mission as archivists of history is to continue to offer powerful documentaries with untold, poignant stories that provide a different perspective to that horrific day.”

Makers

The co-producers of ‘Revealed: The Hunt for Bin Laden’ are The 9/11 Memorial & Museum and Northern Light Productions, while the documentary’s executive producer is Clifford Chanin, head of Museum Programs. Andrew Kukura has directed it.

Kukura’s website gives an overview of him by stating, “Over the past 16 years, he has worked on many high-profile projects from feature-length documentaries, to broadcast television, to immersive museum installations. Andrew co-directed, co-wrote, and edited THE DHAMMA BROTHERS, a feature-length documentary about the profound effect of Vipassana meditation on inmates in a maximum-security prison in Alabama. The film won numerous awards, was profiled in the New York Times, on NPR and featured as part of Oprah Winfrey’s Soul Series. It continues to be broadcast around the world.
