MOSCOW, IDAHO: The small town of Moscow was devastated by the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students on November 13. The victims, who were all fatally stabbed with a "fixed blade" knife, were named by the Moscow Police Department as Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves on November 14.

Recently, an online sleuth, who claimed they used to be an Idaho resident, put forth a theory about the Corner Club, a Moscow staple Mogen and Goncalves visited hours before their murders. The user also insisted that "Moscow felt so safe for everyone" during their time there.

The Reddit user wrote, "I went to school in Moscow for undergrad & grad school. If I were to imagine it in my mind, purely speculative, 11-12-22 was U of I game day plus WSU parents night, so likely even busier than typical game day. I'd expect a very full house. Nights like this, in my experience, are packed at Corner Club. It's elbow-to-elbow, standing room only."

The thread continued, "To get a sense, this place isn't very big but has a 20 ft shuffle board table. It boasts carpeted walls (at one point) and concrete floors, pics and memorabilia of the U of I Vandal Legends, and sells cheap beer by the "Tub"; it's a place where college kids mingle with locals, young and old alike, and usually hits its stride around 10 pm on regular nights. It's a place for community and has always felt safe (coming from a woman). Moscow felt so safe for everyone, as far as I knew."

"Corner Club is the kind of place everyone goes, not thought of as sordid or a dive-type-bar, really, despite it's stubborn lack of pretenses. And it's been this way forever. At least that's what my parents and grandparents tell me," the user added.

The thread also claimed, "Wasn't there night of 11/12 or early morn of 11/13, and I haven't been back in a few, but this is how I imagine nights like this to be. I'm heading to Moscow for a U of I game next fall, and hotels are already booked up… But I'll go to the CC again next year and expect it will be the same as I remember."

There is no confirmation about whether these theories relate to the murders in any way. The intense social media scrutiny of the case has often led to far-fetched theories and made the police's work harder. Besides, mounting pressure from the media and the victims' families has also contributed to the investigating authorities' woes. The probe is still ongoing, with no breakthrough in sight.

While an army of analysts sifts through hours and hours of footage given by local residents and business owners, Moscow police are investigating the case with the help of the FBI. The FBI could help investigators narrow down cell tower data to determine whose phones were in the vicinity, as per reports.
