'Ray Donovan' Season 7 Episode 7: Will Smitty turn on the Donovans while Ray is busy tracking Mick?
Season 7 of 'Ray Donovan' was supposed to portray the marital bliss of Smitty (Graham Rogers) and Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) who are still in the beginning stages of their relationship, and yet, what we see is their marital problems. Bridget, who grew attached to her boss, Adam (Michael Esper), had sex with him earlier this season. and confessed this to Smitty almost immediately. As expected, he is furious and confused about what to do, and despite banging up Adam's car and him for good measure, he still doesn't know how to be with Bridget.
In the previous episode, we saw him trying to seek comfort in Terry (Eddie Marsan) who started getting impatient right off the bat and even went on to tell him to stop moping around. While it is not clear what Smitty wants, what is clear is that he is not ready to forgive Bridget, who is proving to be more and more like his father. Even though she made Adam redact all the charges against Smitty, she is yet to apologize to her husband for cheating on him. She is basically trying to "fix" the situation as her father would.
It seems like Smitty understands this, and has even come to the realization that whether he likes it or not he and Bridget are bonded together for life. They do have some dead bodies tying them together, and they aren't going anywhere. However, realizing that Smitty is the Donovans' weak link, Detective Perry (Quincy Tyler Bernstine) has zeroed in on him and is trying to get him to turn on the family. She is trying to blackmail him with everything he will have to endure because of his father-in-law, while also giving him a way out.
Meanwhile, Ray (Liev Schreiber) is busy tracking his father down, before he causes more damage. Will Detective Perry get Smitty to turn on the Donovans before Ray is back and able to intervene, or will Bridget be able to step in and save the family like she has been doing in the recent past? We may very well see Smitty sticking with his new family despite everything else. Season 7 Episode 7 of the Showtime series, which will be aired on Sunday, December 29, will show how the cookie crumbles.
