Chilling past of Leilani Simon: Quinton Simon's mom tried to 'overdose' in front of children, claims ex-BF
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: Leilani Simon's ex-boyfriend with whom she shares a child, Zayne, 3, has come up with shocking revelations about the mother, the prime suspect in the abduction of her 20-month-old child Quinton Simon. Cody Wharton is currently worried about the safety and security of his own child.
According to The US Sun, the father of Zayne stated that he noticed bruises on his child's face and even claimed she tried to overdose herself in front of his son while she was depressed last spring. He further said, "Zayne needs to be with me. I want to make sure he's safe. I'm not sleeping. I'm at a point where he needs to be with me."

"Even now, I'm questioning everything. Is he hurt? What is he doing? I don't want to get a call saying your son is hurt and going to the hospital," he added. The duo dated on and off since 2011 before they finally split. Cody went on to add, "I don't know what happened. I don't know how long (the bruises) were there and when she was talking about overdosing, that scared me because my son was there. But what if she had overdosed and I couldn't get there for two hours?"
Furthermore, he said, "She's always been unpredictable. But I wasn't worried about Zayne's safety until all this started going on. She was a good mother. I don't know what happened." He also claimed that Leilani was "overwhelmed" and when he picked up his son during the summer, all he had was winter clothes. "Right now, I want custody. I need to hold my son. I need to see him with my own eyes and make sure he's safe," Cody stated.
Cody also shared his experience of flying down to Georgia for a DNA test to prove that he is the father of his child, Zayne. It is unclear who is currently taking care of Zayne as the police are on the hunt to spot Leilani. He then said, "Nothing scares me like this, I knew my son was going to be taken care of, but I'm not even sure her parents can take of him. If he was with me, it would give me a calm mind. He deserves a good life and life full of opportunity. I feel like he's not getting that right now."
He also revealed that he had spoken to the 22-year-old mother the last month. "She was saying she was excited about moving to a new house and seemed to have her head on her shoulders, and now this happened."
Meanwhile, a former FBI agent, Jennifer Coffindaffer claimed in an interview with The Sun that they are not done with the investigation yet. "They have one opportunity to charge someone and make those charges stick to get a conviction." Coffindaffer added, "Right now, it's all circumstantial. They're likely going through phone records, searching for the body, and waiting for forensic test results before making an arrest. They want to have all the evidence first."
On October 5, 20-month-old Quinton Simon went missing from his home in Savannah, Chatham County, a seaside city on the border of Georgia and South Carolina. Leilani Simon, 22, his mother, was named as the primary suspect in the boy's disappearance by Georgia police on Wednesday, October 12.
