Now Quinton Simon's mom is MISSING! Georgia cops don't know where prime suspect Leilani Simon is
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA: Leilani Simon aka Leilani Howell, the mother of missing toddler Quinton Simon, was named as the primary suspect in the boy's death by Georgia police on Wednesday, October 12. However, a day later they admitted that they have no idea about her whereabouts.
Quinton, 22, was last seen on October 5 when his mother reported him missing. He was allegedly nowhere to be found when she woke up at 9.30 am. A week has passed and the police now believe that Quinton is dead and that his mother is to blame for his demise. They claim they want to make sure they have solid proof before making an accusation or arresting her therefore they have not yet charged Leilani on any accounts. However, detectives said on Thursday, October 13 that they are unaware of Leilani’s whereabouts. “I do not know where she is right now, today,” Chatham County Police Chief Jeff Hadley said at a press conference. According to Daily Mail, he stressed that she is not a "flight risk."

Billie Jo Howell, Quinton's grandmother, often took care of the 18-month-old. He had been legally removed from his mother's care by her. Leilani received a statutory order to begin providing child support a week before she disappeared. She would be invoiced $150 every month starting on November 1. If one of her two children died, the payment would be reduced to $100. The police have not yet released what kind of evidence they have against her.
Diana McCarta, one of Quinton's babysitters, claimed that around 5:30 am that day, she received a text informing her that she was not needed to watch Quinton that day. Later that morning, Quinton's grandma texted McCarta to inquire about seeing the 20-month-old child. “I got a text at 9 o'clock, saying 'have you seen Quinton?' I immediately go to their house and try to help them look, but they didn't want that. So I have just been waiting around like everyone else,” said McCarta. The police were contacted after Quinton was reported missing at 9 am. Since then, the Simons' home and other locations have been the subject of a thorough search by the FBI and local police that included dumpsters, drains and ponds.
The police have decided that a criminal inquiry into Quinton's disappearance is necessary after analyzing Leilani’s cellphone data. A new update will be provided soon, according to Chatham County Police, who said that investigators visited the house again on October 12 with sniffer dogs.
