NYC mom SHOT in drive-by while standing with her 2 children during suspected gang-related shooting
Update: Police on Saturday, July 16, released images of the black SUV sought in the drive-by shooting of the 28-year-old mother hit by a stray bullet as she stood with her two children. A 44-year-old man standing near her was shot in the left arm.
There have been conflicting reports as to who may have been the target of this crime. NY Post reports that while the woman and the man who were injured did not know each other, it appears the woman was the intended target, since the shooter pulled up in the black, four-door SUV right alongside her before opening fire. Police said the same vehicle is believed to be the one used in the robbery of $7,000 of marijuana and $2,000 cash from Ocean Park Market on Seagirt Boulevard on Thursday, July 14. A man walked into the market around 9 pm and demanded money and drugs from the clerk who was inside. PIX11 News, on the contrary, reported that sources claimed the man, a known gang member, was the intended target of the shooting and that the woman and children were caught in the crossfire. So far, no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
