Queen desperate to ‘shut down debate, briefing war’ between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and palace, says insider
The interview that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had given Oprah Winfrey continues to grab headlines as the consequences of the same continue to grab the spotlight. After Meghan claimed that members of the royal family had questions about Archie's skin color and also speculated that this could have been why he was not given the title of prince like the other princes and princesses, the palace staff, among many, are reportedly furious.
This has led to back and forth accusations and claims made by the representatives of both sides and the Queen now reportedly wants it to stop. In fact, according to a report in the Express, the Royal Household, which is headed by the Queen wants to "shut down the debate and take the heat off the ‘institution’". Richard Palmer, a royal correspondent, was quoted as saying, "That briefing war between the two camps in the Sussexes v Royal Family dispute continues."

He also added, "Former aides and the Sussexes are furious. In the middle stands the Royal Household, which wants to shut down the debate and take the heat off the ‘institution’ by making this about family. Make no mistake, there is real anger out there among staff and former staff who believe the claims made by Harry and Meghan are outrageous.”
At the same time, the staff of the royal family continues to hold Meghan and Prince Harry responsible for making claims of facing racism on national television in the US. One senior aide was quoted as saying, "It’s despicable that she’s playing the race card."
Gayle King also revealed on television recently that Prince Harry had spoken to both his brother, Prince William, and his father, however, she claimed on CBS 'This Morning' that “those conversations were not productive”. Meghan and Harry had also made claims that the British press was racist in their writings about her and there was no response or support from the family.
In a statement, the royal family said, "The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” and added, “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.” Now, an investigation into the claims made by Prince Harry and Meghan will be taken up by a private law firm.
There has also been a backlash against Prince Harry and Meghan for giving the interview while Prince Philip had been in the hospital struggling with a pre-existing heart condition. Regarding this, King said on her SiriusXM radio show, “Well, just so you know, they had done that interview before Prince Phillip went into the hospital. And if something, God forbid, had happened to him, the interview would not have run at this particular time."
She also added, “But the interview was done and was scheduled before he went into the hospital. But a lot of people have raised that point.”
