Bernie Sanders will host a rally in Los Angeles this weekend, it was announced on February 27. American hip hop group Public Enemy will hit the caucus stage in favor of the Democratic presidential hopeful on March 1. Sanders has already won the New Hampshire and Nevada primary elections. The rally will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center at 3 pm.

Public Enemy's gig does not come as a surprise to fans. The group has often brought focus on political commentary and African American issues with their music. Public Enemy is a standout rap group of the late 1980s and early 1990s whose layered sound and radical political message made them one of the most popular and controversial hip-hop artistes of that time.

The original members were Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Terminator X and Professor Griff. Public Enemy's second studio LP 'It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back', that was released in 1988 and revived the messages of the Black Panther Party and Malcolm X, was acclaimed as the band's masterpiece.

The much-loved actor Dick Van Dyke and comedian Sarah Silverman are also joining the rally. The event will come just two days before Super Tuesday where US states including California will hold primary caucuses and elections.

Sanders has been making headlines aplenty these days in the realms of music. Public Enemy is not the only group to have supported him for the upcoming presidential elections.

On February 2, both Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon came together for a caucus in support of their favorite leader. You can read more on that here. On February 10 indie rock group The Strokes, who recently reunited, performed at a rally for Sanders at University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire, according to Billboard. Sanders even took the time to thank other great artistes such as Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Killer Mike, Jackson Browne and Speedy Ortiz at a rally in Houston, Texas, on February 24.
