The third episode saw many revelations and internal politics in pay for the Sandoval family. Joe's ex-wife Margaret gets in touch with her daughter Carmen (Mariel Molino) offering her a project in marketing for her hotel line. Although her mother had abandoned her when she was only two, Carmen doesn't care as she was raised happily by Lettie and uses it as an opportunity to advance her career. But this move doesn't sit well with Joe who has been in a feud with his ex for years. On being told not to work with her mother, the daughter slams her father and tells him straight she will do what she wants as Margaret is the one who gave her a creative opportunity. Joe cannot sit silent and blackmails his partners to pull out of his ex's project causing Carmen to lose out as well which annoys the daughter.

We also take a look into Antonio's past and learn where it all went wrong. The Sandoval son was first in line to be the CEO of Heritage House but upon being found out as a gay man he was pushed away. He is also nearing the truth about Joe and Lettie's past as he digs further into the blood-stained truck he found. Another Sandoval sibling, Veronica (Christina Ochoa) is facing her own problems and being blackmailed for money after accidentally hitting a worker with her car.

Lettie who raised Carmen after learning of Margaret's offer warns her to not hurt her daughter and is met by smugness and threatened by a secret the two share. Lettie has also been meeting with Joe's brother Billy (Yul Vazquez) who is back in secret but is found out toward the end of the episode which ends with a stunned and furious Joe. In this manner, the episode covered many bases on the deep secrets that lay dormant in the Sandoval family.

'Promised Land' returns with a new episode on Monday at 10/9 C on ABC. You can stream it on Hulu as well.
