ABC's latest addition to the 2021-2022 new shows has a brand new drama in the lineup and its already garnering attention! 'Promised Land' takes us on the journey of generational wealth in the form of a sprawling vineyard that produces a major portion of the country's wine.

The ABC show is a Latinx drama based on the Sandoval family and sees two perspectives of the American dream. 'Promised Land' also deals with immigrants and their hopes for a better life in America as their lives clash with that of the Sandovals. Featuring a mix of seasoned and relatively new Mexican actors, the drama boasts a great cast. So read on to know a bit more on one of the main cast members!

Who is Mariel Molino?

Mariel Molino is a Mexican American actress who was raised in San Diego, California. Since both of her parents hail from Mexico City, Molino grew up speaking Spanish at home after moving to the USA. The actress is a first-generation American and is proud of her Mexican, Catholic and Jewish roots. Molino caught the acting bug as a little girl and at the age of 6 began performing in small plays at her school and at Coronado School of the Arts. Even though a very tender age, she knew she found her calling and hasn't looked back since then, going on to begin her career in Mexico City through theatre, television and film. After her move to San Diego, she honed her skills further studied acting at HB Studio in New York City and Anthony Meindl's Workshop in Los Angeles.

Her works include 'El Vato', , "Narcos: Mexico' , Amazon's 'Juego de las Llaves', 'El Candidato', Netflix's "Luis Miguel: La Serie and Fox's 'La Negociadora'. She also starred in Amazon's first Spanish-language original movie, 'Locas por el Cambio'. Most recently, she starred in the film 'Die Like a Man' opposite her 'Promised Land' little brother, Miguel Angel Garcia which is written by acclaimed writer Eric Nazarian and shot by Academy Award nominee Piotr Sobocinski.



 

'Promised Land' marks Mariel Molino's American television debut

ABC's upcoming drama series marks Molino's debut in American television and she will play the role of Carmen Sandoval, daughter of Joe Sandoval. But that's not all as the actress keeping busy is also currently producing a play with two of her 'Promised Land' co-stars, Andres Velez and Miguel Angel Garcia. Her heart is in the right place and she is passionate about giving back to her community. To do this Molino with the help of her mother started the organization, 'Pan Por Pan' during the Covid 19 pandemic, which sold pastries to help feed vulnerable communities in Baja California. Apart from acting, her one true love, the actress also enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her dog, Kika.



 

'Promised Land' premieres on January 24, 2022 on ABC at at 9 pm ET. You can stream it on Hulu as well.
