It is officially time for your favourite murder thriller to return to the screen. After a painful two-year long wait, 'Prodigal Son' is finally on FOX with its second season and it does not disappoint so far. The premiere titled 'It's All in the Execution' sees "Malcolm find his personal life in disarray after his sister's shocking actions; he must take care of her and protect his mother from a secret that could tear the family apart all over again; Malcolm must find a killer." It's all very enticing, but the ending might leave one rattled enough to demand closures immediately. If you are looking for all the details on the when and how, look no further, we've got you sorted.

Episode 2 of 'Prodigal Son' Season 2 will air in just a short week's time, on Tuesday, January 19, at its usual 9 pm time slot only on FOX. According to the official synopsis of the episode, "When a priest is found murdered in his place of worship, Bright grapples with its effect on his own trauma; Ainsley grows worried that Jessica is keeping something from her regarding her relationship with Gil."

Gil's arc has been explored but only as a surrogate patriarch of the Whitly family. As he recovers from being stabbed at the end of Season 1, the darker, murkier aspects of his past might come into perspective. The future looks promising for him and Jessica, but will this blow he suffers be a fatal one for their budding relationship? That is yet to be seen. There definitely needs to be more Gil as a person, and less Gil the NYPD cop who's damn good at what he does. And all of that seems to brim up the second episode of this season, as what exactly could Jessica find potentially so damaging, that Aisley is growing concerned about?

Could this be surrounding their father, the original Whitly patriarch, Martin? Gill was the arresting cop after the infamous serial killer murdered 23 people under the moniker 'The Surgeon', but could that return to bite him back in the a**? Also, let's not forget Ainsley's dissociative episodes that spurred her to act out so murderously. The trailer sees Martin alarm Malcolm his sister is not like the two of them. Could this mean Ainsley has a malicious alter within or is she in danger of something far more insidious?

'Prodigal Son' Season 2 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on FOX.
