Prince Philip's funeral will be a lowkey affair with only 30 guests attending, one of them is Bernhard, Hereditary Prince of Baden. The guest list was scaled down from 800 people to maintain stringent Covid-19 safety protocols issued in the United Kingdom.

Bernhard is one of the great-nephews of the Duke of Edinburgh and son of his second sister Theodora. In 2001, he married Stephanie Anne Kaul in a civil ceremony followed by a religious one. The couple shares three children — Prince Leopold, Prince Friedrich, and Prince Karl-Wilhelm.

A guide to Prince Philip's funeral

The royal funeral will be held at the St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, at 15:00 BST on April 17, Saturday. As of now, the duke's body is resting in the inner hall at the castle. According to reports, he had requested "a funeral of minimal fuss", which meant he wanted a quiet event and his coffin was not available for viewing for members of the public.

The prince aside, the Queen, Prince Edward, the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of Cambridge, the Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke of Sussex, the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank, the Earl of Wessex, the Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor, Viscount Severn, the Princess Royal, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, Peter Phillips, Zara Phillips, Mike Tindall, Daniel Chatto, Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, Earl of Snowden, Lady Sarah Chatto, Prince Donatus, Landgrave of Hesse, Prince Philipp of Hohenlohe-Langenburg and the Countess Mountbatten of Burma will be attending Prince Philip's funeral.

Rather than a state funeral, Prince Philip will have a ceremonial one. Usually, state funerals are reserved for monarchs. The Queen Mother and Princess Diana had a ceremonial funeral in 2002 and 1997, respectively. As per the norm, the coffin will be moved from the private chapel to the Castle's State Entrance. It will then be placed atop a Land Rover, which the duke himself helped modify, and later carried to the St George's Chapel.

While BBC News website will lead with online coverage on website and app, BBC One, BBC News Channel, and BBC iPlayer will take care of the television coverage in the UK.
