'Who on earth invited him?': Prince Harry slammed for 'lecturing about freedom' in UNGA speech
Prince Harry, who was joined by his wife, Meghan Markle, during a speech at UN General Assembly in New York City in honor of Mandela Day, got blasted by criticis who were not okay with his assessment as the Duke of Sussex referred to the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which resulted in a decision overturning landmark abortion cases Roe v Wade and Planned Parenthood v Casey, and called it as a part of “a global assault on democracy and freedom.”
In his speech, 37-year-old Harry quoted a letter Mandela wrote from his prison cell in South Africa in 1970 that read, “to a freedom fighter, hope is what a lifebelt is to a swimmer: a guarantee that one will keep afloat and free from danger.” He told the UN ambassadors that it had been “a painful year in a painful decade.” And added, “Climate change wreaking havoc on our planet, with the most vulnerable suffering most of all. The few, weaponizing lies and disinformation at the expense of the many. And from the horrific war in Ukraine to the rolling back of constitutional rights here in the United States, we are witnessing a global assault on democracy and freedom - the cause of Mandela’s life.”

After the speech, many thrashed him for his views and quickly took to Twitter to tell him "don’t lecture us about freedom.” One wrote, "First, sonny, piss off. Second, I believe you come from a nation wherein people can get police visits for saying mean things on the Internet and reading Churchill aloud, so don't lecture us about freedom. Another user said, "Welcome to the United States Prince Harry. You have now experienced both sides of The First Amendment...your freedom to say what you like, and our freedom to say we'd like you to leave."

Twitterati continued to slam him and asked him not to educate them. A user commented by saying, "Prince Harry is out here trying to "educate" us on global assault on freedom; Is he still regarded as a Prince. lol. Baba, your own kingdom don't want you anymore, you should try to repair that relationship first. Nothing is free anymore, not even in Free Town. #HarryandMeghan." Many questioned who invited him to the platform. An individual said, "If Prince Harry gave the keynote at a minor conference of genealogists or orchid growers in the UK, most attendees would think it amusing at best, ‘a bit off’ at worst. That he is addressing the UN Assembly on democracy and freedom is preposterous. Who on earth invited him?"
