Prince Philip funeral: Harry in talks with Charles, Beatrice and Eugenie to plan UK trip as Meghan stays in US

Meghan will reportedly be skipping the trip to the UK and stay back in their California home owing to her pregnancy

Prince Philip's death seems to have rattled the entire British royal family. The 99-year-old died on Friday, April 9, afternoon. Following his death, everybody began speculating about whether the Duke of Edinburgh's grandson Prince Harry would be returning to the UK to pay his respects to his grandfather.

According to reports, Prince Harry is reportedly already in talks with senior royal family members and is planning for his return, while his heavily pregnant wife Meghan Markle will stay back in their California home.

This will mark Harry's first trip back to the UK since stepping down from his royal duties last year. Harry and Meghan left the country and moved to California with hopes of becoming financially independent. The couple's relationship with the royal family took a further hit following their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last month. 

Meghan will reportedly be skipping the trip to the UK and stay back in their California home owing to her pregnancy. A source close to the family reportedly told The Daily Mail that the Duchess of Sussex 'wants to be by his (Prince Harry) side' but she would have to consider her doctor's advice and airline rules about expectant mothers. 

Harry, on the other hand, wants 'nothing more than to be with his family' during this difficult time. The source said, "Harry will absolutely do his utmost to get back to the UK and be with his family. He will want nothing more than to be there for his family, and particularly his grandmother, during this awful time." He reportedly has spoken to some of his family members including Prince Charles, Beatrice, and Eugenie, to plan his return.

Prince Harry and Meghan were also heavily criticized for their rather short tribute to Prince Philip. The couple posted a two-line message on their Archwell website. "Thank you for your services... You will be greatly missed." Prince Harry's return to the UK for his grandfather's funeral is being deemed as a pivotal moment in the royal family as the relationship between Harry and his family has been deeply affected in the past year and the Oprah Winfrey interview didn't help much either. 

Despite the tension between family members, the Queen expects all her grandchildren to put on a united front, as a sign of respect for the late Duke of Edinburgh. Many are hoping for this reunion to help Prince Harry reconcile with his estranged family members. 

With the news of Meghan staying back at home doing rounds on the internet, several people have taken to Twitter to slam the duchess while hoping that Harry will mend his relationship with the royal family. A user tweeted, "Does the average person really care if Megan attends Prince Philip’s funeral? The important factor is Prince Harry & his son Archie attend & whilst in the UK rebuild his relationship with his family. This is important for Harry’s mental well-being."

Another user wrote, "Meghan will stay in California while Prince Harry returns to Britain for Prince Phillips funeral”. Disgusting. All issues aside - she should still be by her husbands side at this time." "Thank God Meghan Markle is staying home. She is not wanted in the UK. The Royal Family do not want her there.Your place is in California with Gayle and Oprah. A few users even slammed Harry for thinking of flying back to the UK for his grandfather's funeral. "It’s very sad Prince Philip died. Maybe Prince Harry should keep his A** home in California. Why embarrass the Royal Family anymore! What a loser and it’s surprising Meghan give her permission for him to go!" "Prince Harry has clearly “lost his way” with the “woke” Meghan. He was raised on those principles you mention so knows better. We can only hope he returns to his family in the future, aside from going to his Grandfather’s funeral.," expressed another user.

It is still unknown where Harry will stay during his visit to the UK, and for how long will he remain after the funeral.
