LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: While Queen Elizabeth II’s September 8 death has sent a wave of grief across the UK, it has also brought all the members of the royal family together after a very long time. The much-scrutinized couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have also come forward to present a united front with the other royals in these difficult times. This has given people the opportunity to discuss their past decisions, especially the controversial "Megxit."

Since 2020, the Duchess of Sussex has constantly been accused of being the one who encouraged the Duke to lead a life away from his family, by her critics. However, now a mix of old clips have resurfaced online showing Harry’s dislike for the British media and why he did not want to be in England.

The video showed an interview of the father-of-two when he was posted in Afghanistan. When he was questioned if would like to return to the country, he answered: “I don't want to sit around at Windsor because I just genuinely don't like England that much, and, you know, it's nice to be away from all the press and the papers and all the general shit that they write.” In another clip he clearly revealed that he’s no sympathy towards the journalists as he added: “I think it's fairly obvious how far back it goes. To when I was very small.”

The footage has attracted a lot of attention online with many social media users from both the UK and the US supporting Harry and Meghan. "Prince Harry have always said that he doesn’t f**k with y’all in the press, to your faces. Don’t start with “before Meghan”. You thought he was joking? 'Oh Meghan made him say all of this,'" said one user, using a *rolling eyes* emoji. But another commentator replied to this saying, “Nobody thinks that about him hating the press. His missus did not make him hate the press. His missus ‘says’ they hate the press but every action of hers is to ‘stay in the press’ by dissing his family.”

However another user, supporting Meghan, put another spin on it, tweeting, “Meghan literally rescued him. If he'd married some 'rose', they would have forced him to stay there and spend the rest of his life in a prison he hated. Meghan happily help to leave so they could start a life together & not raise their kids in that dysfunctional household. Sweet.” A second one wrote, “Wow, Harry in his own words ‘I don’t like England’. So, who was it that ‘radicalised’ him since he was ‘very small?’ Obviously not Meghan cos she wasn’t there.”

Another person shared: “Harry wanted to leave the UK way before Meghan came into the picture...why the hell would he stay then, when his wife was being trolled worse than his Mother??” Another one expressed, “I can not blame either of the Princes for being straight and abrupt with the media, they have every right to not be keen on the media after they hounded their mother to her death.”

Slamming the British press, a Twitter user wrote: “The royalist British public and press is pro traumatizing children.” “He always had strong opinions, he was always known to be a rebel under the crowd. Megan didn't make him to nothing he didn't want to do. Let's not forget he was the one showing his bum in Vegas 😹 Deep down he's an American 🏈 (half kidding about this),” another user mentioned. A tweet added: “Always comes across as patriotic and duty bound. And been consistent, guess why that’s why the press hate him, because they can’t use or manipulate him.”
