Prince Harry and Jill Biden's friendship: Joe Biden was jealous and 'a little worried' seeing the close bond
While President Joe Biden is all set to reportedly meet Queen Elizabeth this summer at Buckingham Palace ahead of the G7 summit, it is interesting to note that he was once jealous of the longstanding friendship between his wife Jill and Prince Harry.
The former British royal and Jill met for the first time in 2013 when the royal visited the United States to attend a Washington reception honoring fallen American and British soldiers. It was an instant connection between the two. In fact, Harry also bonded with Biden’s late stepson Beau at the time. Since the latter was a veteran and Harry had served in the armed forces, they found a lot of common ground. The same year, Harry also attended the US Army’s Warrior Games in Colorado — an event for wounded, injured or sick veterans, which was a multi-sport event inspired by Harry’s own Invictus Games.

Jealous Joe
The rapport between Jill and Harry only grew stronger and in 2014, she flew to London to attend his inaugural Invictus Games. And it wasn’t the only time she backed his event. The then-second lady of the United States was spotted watching wheelchair basketball with Harry after he took the Games to Orlando, Florida, in 2016.
Joe Biden, who was serving as Barack Obama's vice president at the time, grew a little jealous seeing all the attention that Jill was getting from the prince. He joked at the time, saying: “Jill went to London for the last Games. She spent too much damn time with Prince Harry!” He later told The Guardian: “I read in The Guardian, or one of them, and it says — I’m paraphrasing — everywhere Prince Harry went, he had this blonde woman on his arm. The vice-president’s wife! I’m a little worried here, you know what I mean?”
Did Meghan Markle vote for Biden?
Jill and Harry again reunited in 2017 when the games were hosted in Toronto, Canada and in the same event the royal stepped out publicly with his then-girlfriend Meghan Markle for the first time. Although it is not known if Meghan ever met the Bidens, both Harry and the former 'Suits' actress have shown their support for a Biden presidency albeit subtly, since royal family members are famously known for their apolitical views.
Despite not mentioning him by name, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex urged Americans to vote in 2020, with Harry adding that as a British royal, he has never had the privilege to vote. It is believed that with their message in the Time 100 video to reject “hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity” in “the most important election of our lifetime”, they indirectly showed their preference for a presidential candidate over the other. As an American citizen, Markle is believed to have cast a ballot.
Biden's presidency supported by royals
Biden has already been sent a message of support by the Queen following his swearing-in as the 46th POTUS on January 20. While the details of the message are still not public knowledge, it was also reported that Prince Charles has sent out a message to the new president. He was reportedly "delighted that one of Biden’s first acts as president was signing a series of executive orders addressing climate change and the environment, overturning many of Trump’s policies,” according to the report.
