Joe Biden takes dig at Trump for suggesting bleach as Covid-19 cure, Internet says POTUS 'can do shade'
President Joe Biden poked a jab at Donald Trump and set tongues wagging on social media. During a remote White House event for Black essential workers about the Covid-19 pandemic, Biden said in a reference to Trump, "I think there's a growing awareness that, you know, injecting bleach into your system doesn't do it for you."
The event, which was co-hosted with White House domestic advisor Susan Rice, became the talk of social media after Biden recalled Trump's previous statement during the initial stages of the coronavirus pandemic.

"I'm glad, I can't tell you how much different you're making. We've met with people all over the country via this means, and I think there's a growing awareness that, you know, injecting bleach into your system doesn't do it for you. I'm being serious -- you know, I mean, think about all the ridiculous things -- and there is online, still, there are those who are, you know, the vaccine deniers, and telling all these stories about what's - that aren't true," Biden said, adding, "So, I really appreciate you and your colleagues across the country who are continuing to push and say, "No, if you can get a vaccine, get it. If you can get it, get it as quickly as you can." Socially distance, we're now doing a study, the COVID team, they're studying whether or not once you've had the vaccine, and you've had it for the better part of several weeks, the last shot, what, what can you do and not do in terms of being sure that you are safe? Do you still wear masks? Do you still socially distance? Etc."
In what could be taken as another jab at the Trump administration, Biden adding, "We're an administration that thinks science matters. Science matters. and it has to be available to the poorest among us and those who are most hurt by this COVID crisis across the board. And that's what we're doing."

It was in April 2020, during the initial stages of the pandemic when the nation and the world over were still reeling with the first wave, Trump had suggested research into whether coronavirus might be treated by injecting disinfectant into the body. At the same time, he also appeared to propose irradiating patients' bodies with UV light, a suggestion that was dismissed by a doctor at the briefing.
Here is what Trump actually said during the press conference.
At the time, Trump had caused a lot of outrage as medical experts rushed out to warn people of the ill-effects of following the former president's advice, namely death. Doctors and medical professionals were infuriated at his latest suggestion and called it out. Many online users were in splits after seeing Biden's comment. One of the users called praised him for 'world class trolling' while another said, "I like Joe when he gets 'rowdy'." Another said, "Trump should do it live on TV, just so we can be sure." "Biden can do shade," added yet another user.
Biden's latest swipe at Trump has also been slammed by former President's followers. "@JoeBiden @POTUS Trump NEVER SAID to inject bleach. He was talking about UV light disinfectant that is now standard disinfecting equipment in many businesses and hospitals and comparing it to disinfecting with bleach. You are an idiot. #Democrats elected a moron," one tweeted. "@joebiden @potus @drbiden - You're so pitifully terrified of Trump's popularity you lie about him repeatedly. You know he won this election by LEGAL votes. This article debunks your BS about bleach. NO respect," another Trump supporter shared on Twitter.

In fact, Trump supporters were so offended by Biden's latest comment, they started slamming him for his appearance during the event. "Ironically, I don’t think Joe Biden could be any more white if he did inject himself with bleach. I mean that literally and figuratively," one said noting about biden's appearance. "It's Tuesday Feb 23 and today's POS is... Joe Biden - the guy with hair plugs, veneer teeth and botox," another said.
