What is Trump's Secret Service code name? From Marvel to Mountaineer, here are all the monikers in the family
The United States Secret Services provide a code name to all the White House people who are assigned security by the USSS. These codenames are often given to high-profile political candidates (such as presidential and vice-presidential candidates) and to their families and spouses as well. From "Marvel" to "Mogul", the Trumps also have some quirky codenames.
In general, presidential candidates and their families are given Secret Service protection during their campaigns and these nicknames (codenames) are usually decided upon before the election in question. According to presidential historian Michael Beschloss, protectees usually get to pick their nicknames from a list of options provided to them.
Beschloss also says that after a presidential candidate is given a nickname, the rest of their family gets nicknames that begin with the same letter. In addition to the president, vice president and their families, some government officials get Secret Service codenames as well.
What are the Trumps' codenames?
Donald Trump's codename is "Mogul", according to a CNN report. Trump picked this name up as he was a real estate mogul before becoming the President. However, he did say in a 2015 candidate debate that he would choose the name "Humble" for himself.
The Secret Service calls Donald Trump Jr "Mountaineer", probably because he's an enthusiastic traveler, while 36-year-old Eric Trump, a big game hunter, is called "Marksman". First Lady Melania Trump is known as "Muse" because of her former career as a model and Ivanka Trump's Secret Service code name is "Marvel", according to the Daily Caller.
The nicknames for Trump's two youngest children, meanwhile, Barron and Tiffany, haven't been publicly reported. Vice President Mike Pence's codename is "Hoosier", according to CNN, which is also the nickname of his home state of Indiana. The Second Lady, Karen Pence, is known as "Hummingbird".
The Democratic Party's presidential candidate, Joe Biden, also holds a codename now, which is "Celtic", a likely reference to his Irish roots as opposed to any fandom of Boston basketball. Jill's name has not yet been reported.
Kamala Harris's code name is Pioneer as she is the first Black woman and Indian American woman on a major party ticket. If elected in November, she would become the first female vice president, the first Indian American vice president, the first Black vice president and the first Jamaican American vice president.
