Donald Trump who tested positive to Covid-19 last week and was admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center has now compared the deadly virus to the flu. He also without any evidence stated that every year more than 100,000, people die from the flu. The Tuesday, October 6, tweet from the POTUS read: “Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!” But for obvious reasons, his tweet was not taken in a good way and people did not take a second to condemn Trump’s ignorance.

One user said: “The drug that was given to #TrumpVirus ~Remdesivir ~is $5020/vial, insurance pays 33% of that. So- medicine that you can’t get, nor afford,  is given to Trump. Meanwhile, He’s suing to strip health insurance from 20 Million Americans. Vote! 211,000 Dead and he doesn't care.” Another one said, “COVID19 v FLU deaths by age: The ‘Infection Fatality Ratio’ (IFR) by age of COVID vs seasonal influenza shows that COVID is MULTIPLE TIMES more fatal at *all ages above 30*: Pushpin2.9× more fatal at age 30. 2.9× more fatal at age 30. 5.0× at 40. 8.6× at 50. 13.6× at 60. 14.4× at 70.”

“Ah! I get it..... despite 210+k (& rising) ppl dying of covid over a period of 6 months, you’re now equating that to half the number of deaths from the flu over twice the period of time so as to diminish the severity of covid. Flu isn’t a pandemic, covid is, therein lies the rub,” wrote a social media user. While a fourth one added: “Dude what are you talking about? People with flu symptoms or even a simple cold are gonna have to assume they have Covid. It’s going to be a complete mess. And you obviously aren’t up for the challenge of defeating the virus. Well, Joe Biden is. That’s why I voted for him.”

But there were a few who supported Trump and his “facts”. “We have had diseases evolving for centuries.. and never had to mask... we build immunity.. this is what are bodies are made to do... NO more masks!!! People are getting ill from there own mask. .... vote TRUMP 2020,” wrote a supporter of the 74-year-old. Another user agreed with it and said, “I agree! I haven’t worn a mask through this ignorant political hoax. ITS A DAMN VIRUS!”

The president’s tweet comes soon after he posted a video on Twitter Monday evening after his return from Walter Reed. In the clip, he was seen without the face mask despite being ill. He said, “I just left Walter Reed Medical Center, and it’s really something very special — the doctors, the nurses, the first responders — and I learned so much about coronavirus. And one thing that’s for certain, don’t let it dominate you. Don’t be afraid of it. You’re gonna beat it. We have the best medical equipment; we have the best medicines — all developed recently — and you’re gonna beat it.”

Trump also insisted on going back to “normal” as he added: “We’re the greatest country in the world. We’re going back, we’re going back to work, we’re gonna be out front. As your leader, I had to do that. I knew there’s danger to it, but I had to do it. I stood out front; I led. Nobody that’s a leader would not do what I did, and I know there’s a risk, there’s a danger, but that’s okay. And now I’m better and maybe I’m immune, I don’t know. But don’t let it dominate your lives. Get out there, be careful.”
