A pregnant influencer known for her popular Instagram page - the.hidden.way - died three days before Christmas. According to reports, Emily Mitchell was having coffee and breakfast on December 22 when she "suddenly became unresponsive." Soon her family members informed emergency services and helped her until they arrived, but the 36-year-old, along with her unborn child, tragically died, The Sun reported.
A GoFundMe page has been set to raise funds for Mitchell, who is survived by her husband, Joseph, and four kids - Finn, Isla, Edie and Lulu. The message on the page read, “Our dear Emily and her precious unborn baby left us unexpectedly in the morning of December 22, 2020. Our hearts are broken and her joyful presence will be greatly missed by so many. Em made a big impact in so many people’s lives, and this loss is incomprehensible for anyone who knew her. Our friend was a dedicated mom and wife, she had a heart for the Lord, and loved her children so dearly. We are confident Em is now in perfect fellowship with God. The word of God gives us perfect hope, that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 gives us the clear message. No other verse in the Bible so succinctly summarizes God's relationship with humanity and the way of salvation.
“We are heartbroken by her passing and as a community we wish to express our love for her family through this fundraiser. These funds will go towards her children’s education next year, as well as the many costs Joe and the kids will face as they adjust to life without Emily. We appreciate everyone’s concerns about her sudden passing, and want to thank you all for the love you’ve expressed in the form of messages, calls and letters. Your words didn’t go unnoticed and her family is very grateful for your support during this devastating time.”
The fundraiser also added that “the doctors are still working on answers for her family. We will update everyone with answers when we get them. If Emily had known that she would be drinking her last cup of coffee with you, this is what she would want you to know: There is one way to Heaven, and that is through Jesus Christ.”
Mitchell’s Instagram page was followed by 108k people. Through the social media page, she usually posted about her faith and family life. She recently shared that she was expecting her fifth child while sharing a picture of her and her husband holding up a sonogram. In the caption, Mitchell wrote, “YOU GUYS. NUMBER FIVE. Who guessed the secret?!!! you’ve probably noticed I’ve been a little MIA..welp this be the reason lol. Number FIVE comin in hot and we are here for it 11 weeks 2 days and counting. LOVE YA!! Em.”
An obituary was also posted online in which Mitchell was referred to as a “loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister”. “She will be deeply missed by her husband Joseph Mitchell and their four children Finn, Isla, Eden and Luna, all of Ashaway; loving parents Dr. Joseph and Gail Giancaspro of Westerly; her three siblings, Joseph Giancaspro and his wife Kasey of Ledyard, CT; Michael Giancaspro and his wife Natalia of Coventry, RI and Jessica Giancaspro of Westerly. Emily also leaves her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Dr. Sally Mitchell of Westerly, sister-in-law Christina Carey and her husband, Nick Carey of Chepachet, RI and brother-in-law Adam Mitchell of Boston, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews,” the obituary added.
