Power season 5 to see a special guest appearance from Kendrick Lamar
Starz Original series 'Power' created by Courtney A. Kemp, will welcome Top Dawg Entertainment international superstar, Kendrick Lamar.
Just when you thought ‘Power’ could not get any more gripping, the Starz show went ahead and booked Top Dawg Entertainment international superstar, Kendrick Lamar to appear in a guest role in the upcoming episode 5 of season 5. The episode will air on Sunday, July 29 at 8 p.m ET/PT on Starz and will be available for download and streaming on the Starz app and Starz on Demand starting at 12:01 a.m ET, is titled ‘Happy Birthday.’
Regarding the addition of the Platinum-selling, Grammy®-award and Pulitzer Prize winner Kendrick, to the show’s upcoming episode, executive producer Mark Canton said, “Kendrick is a once in a generation talent and Courtney, 50 and I felt it would be exciting to create a role for him in ‘Power.’ Everyone involved is thrilled to have him join the family.”
Things are going relatively smooth in the ‘Power’ universe, despite the return of Tommy’s (portrayed by Joseph Sikora) father from prison, Tasha (portrayed by Naturi Naughton) seemingly saying goodbye to Ghost (portrayed by Omari Hardwick) and Kanan (portrayed by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson) sowing seeds of destruction in the lives of Tommy and Ghost. We wonder what type of havoc Kendrick’s character would bring to the mix.
The synopsis for ‘Happy Birthday’ suggests that the titular episode is about the birthday celebrations of Tariq (portrayed by Michael Rainey Jr.), whose birthday the St. Patricks have gathered to celebrate. The episode will also see a newly single Tasha turning to her former lover Terry Silver (portrayed by Brandon Victor Dixon) for comfort.
Meanwhile, Ghost will be seen getting even more paranoid and reckless after learning that Dre (portrayed by Rotimi Akinosho) is willing to replace him in the legitimate world. Kanan, on the other hand, would continue poisoning Tariq against his own father, while faking some bonding moments over their shared mistrust of Ghost.
The New York-based Starz’s crime drama from executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and show creator Courtney Kemp had premiered its season 5 of July 1 and has reportedly since doubled the record-breaking acquisition and viewership performance on the STARZ App over Season 4. The show also increased by 40% in VOD viewing and 9% in total average audience season over season.
Certainly, the addition of Kendrick can only take ‘Power’ to greater heights.
