Rapper Pop Smoke arrested at JFK on federal charge for interstate transportation of stolen Rolls-Royce Wraith
American rapper Pop Smoke, who features on Travis Scott's new album, 'Jackboys', which released December 27, has been arrested by federal agents who busted him for allegedly transporting a stolen Rolls-Royce, specifically a 2019 model valued at an estimated $375,000, across state lines, according to the New York Times.
As per court documentation, Pop Smoke was busted on the morning of January 17 in New York on a federal charge of interstate transport of a stolen vehicle, according to TMZ.
The recent 'JackBoys' collaborator transported the stolen 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith from California to New York. Pop Smoke was busted at J. F. K. Airport after returning from Paris Fashion Week, and he'll be arraigned Friday afternoon in Brooklyn, New York, according to TMZ.
Brooklyn federal prosecutors are handling the case. Law enforcement states that Pop Smoke met the vehicle's owner in November at a Los Angeles recording studio, entering into a verbal agreement that Pop Smoke can utilize the car in an upcoming music video.
The owner of the Rolls Royce would be allowed VIP treatment in exchange at a future show. The owner told the rapper that he would have to return the car the following day.
When the vehicle wasn't returned, the owner tracked the car to Arizona using GPS, and then reported it stolen. In December, the car owner noticed the vehicle in a Pop Smoke Instagram post with a location tagged in New York. That post has since been removed but can still be found on Facebook.
Pop Smoke has been extending his hip hop and rap fame since the release of the Travis Scott album 'Jackboys'. He appears in the song 'Gatti'. The album is a compilation album and was used as a marketing plan to sell merch and promote the 'Jackboys' name. You can read more on the album here.
