76ers vs Celtics: Philadelphia lose second game in a row, miffed fans dub them an 'embarrassment'

The Boston Celtics got the better of the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of their NBA playoffs on Wednesday, August 19. The Greens notched up a comprehensive 128-101 win over the Sixers leaving fans fuming over the dipping performance levels. For the Celtics, it was the combo of Jayson Tatum (33 PTS 5 AST 8-12 3FG) and Jaylen Brown (20 PTS 5 REB 6-13 FG) who did the bulk of the scoring to help them go 2-0 in the series.

For the Sixers, Joel Embiid was the lone gun-slinger with 34 points, but it wasn't enough as the Celtics pipped the effort. The consolation, however, can be the fact he dominated the first half of Game 2. The footwork was a masterclass and unfortunately, on this day, the hard yards didn't pay off. Meanwhile, disappointed fans took to social media to voice their thoughts on the issues of the 76ers.

"I feel bad for Joel Embiid because he genuinely cares about winning. The man cried after being eliminated last year and the look here shows a lot. Sixers management needs to get it together before they end up losing him," read one of the tweets.

This one was quite simple but is sure to sting: "When you realize the Sixers suck at basketball #FightWeek"

And the opinions continued: "Do not let the people responsible for turning the Sixers from the most asset-rich team in the NBA into this absolute dumpster fire off the hook. Jerry Colangelo. Bryan Colangelo. Alex Rucker. Ned Cohen. Elton Brand. Marc Eversley. Josh Harris. David Blitzer. Adam Silver."

Harsher words weres used, "This was a sickening performance tonight by the Sixers. Absolutely no heart embarrassing performance," reckoned one of the fans.

"Sixers trusted the process and are now stuck because Brand stuffed every inch of wiggle room with Harris and Horford money. Almost feel like they’ll have to step back yet again to step forward," shared one of the fans who watched the game.

The call to fire coach Brett Brown had already begun. "If brown is not fired after this I'm finding a new team been a fan since 81 but I mean that shit. Screw the process," commented one of the fans.

Understandably, it's not easy for the Sixers either as they slumped down with two back-to-back losses. Game 3 is a chance for them to rebound back and give their fans a shard for hope when they take on the Celtics on Friday.
