LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND: A teenager who previously grabbed headlines for becoming one of the youngest people ever to receive an anti-social behavior order has now been jailed after he tried to take over a drug gang but was stabbed 27 times in a bloody revenge attack.

Alfie Hodgin, now 18, was taken into custody Wednesday, October 5, after he was found to be in possession of £2,320 (~$2,607) of heroin and crack cocaine while "slumped on the floor covered in blood" in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The teenager, from Liscard, Merseyside, was reportedly working for an organized crime syndicate in a bid to pay off the debt he had accrued, but instead stole the gang's graft phone and drugs in a bid to run an independent operation.

On July 14, a gang of four machete-wielding men left Alfie lying in a pool of his own blood with 27 stab wounds, the Liverpool Crown Court heard. Police cars responded to the scene after the attackers jumped on Alfie out of a grey SUV. The teenager was airlifted to the hospital and spent two weeks there due to the severity of his injuries. Prosecutor Derek Jones told the court that Alfie had "clearly been subjected to a serious assault with weapons, thought to be machetes." Nonetheless, he was arrested by officers who found him in possession of £1,220 (~$1,371) of heroin, £1,100 (~$1,236) of crack cocaine, and a £1,208 (~$1,358) 'graft' phone.

Alfie would later admit to possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of drugs before he was sentenced to two and a half years. According to the Liverpool Echo, Alfie's run-ins with the law began back in December 2014 at age 10, when he was handed an ASBO at Wirral Magistrate's Court, Merseyside, for "terrorizing the community." The two-year order barred him from "causing harassment, alarm or distress to members of the public" and also prevented him from associating with a group of friends in public.

The banning order, however, did not prevent him from breaking the law, considering he received his first criminal conviction at age 13. He was put behind bars in 2019 after being caught in possession of a blade in public. He was reportedly involved in a series of offenses by then, including theft, criminal damage, and assault, as well as breaching his ASBO order. Alfie and his older brother John were reportedly part of a gang involved in a series of incidents in Birkenhead, Merseyside.

John also received an ASBO just a month earlier, after he was "accused of being part of a gang that threw missiles at vehicles and hurled abuse at vulnerable people." Alfie was put behind bars again in February 2021 after he was caught in the possession of drugs, a phone, and a 'couple of weapons' in his cell. The minor started dealing Class A drugs while he was out on license, not long before the horrific revenge attack in which he nearly died in a pool of his own blood.

"From a very young age, probably in his infancy, he has been subjected to living in a violent and criminal environment and a complete mistrust has developed within him of adults and people who may on the face of it be looking to help him," Defense counsel John Weate told the court of Alfie on Wednesday, October 5. "Everything has been disrupted by this life experience, which thankfully the vast majority of children don't have to experience. His education was completely and utterly disrupted through bad behavior and through other issues which existed in his life. The glimmer of hope is a suggestion he wants to change. He seems determined to get a grip on his life and to do his level best in the future to make sure he doesn't find himself in this position again." Alfie's brother John is currently serving a two-year and seven-month sentence after being chased by a police helicopter in a stolen car, the Echo reported.
