As the US was still healing from the death of African-American man Geroge Floyd, who was allegedly killed by a former Minneapolis officer in May, another shooting of a Black man has shaken the country again. Jacob Blake was allegedly shot several times by Kenosha police on Sunday, August 23, as he tried to enter a vehicle. The shooting left the 29-year-old man severely injured and is currently receiving treatment at Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee.

Later, Kenosha police confirmed that a shooting occurred on Augst 23 as the cops responded to the 2800 block of 40th Street on the report of a domestic incident. "At 5.11 pm, Kenosha Police Officers were sent to the 2800 block of 40th Street for a domestic incident and were involved in an officer-involved shooting. Officers provided immediate aid to the person,” a police statement said.

The Kenosha shooting is the latest in a series of police brutality against Black people. The video of the incident has already been shared widely in which several people can be heard screaming after the cops shot Blake. However, there are many who are urging others not to share the footage. Among those people are writer, actress, and comedian - Natasha Rothwell - who described the video as "traumatizing".

"This shit is traumatizing. Cops hunting black folk for sport isn’t anything new. Being subjected to the footage and KNOWING there will be no consequences is next level torture. The powerless is unbearable,” she tweeted. Rothwell wrote this in response to a tweet from another writer and comedian, Quinta Brunson, who said: “We do not need to share that video. The words should be enough.”

“I'm not going to RT the video of that man being shot 7 times in the back by police officers in Kenosha, Wisconsin. But if you're a so-called "Blue Life" you really can't defend this cowardly shit,” writer Akilah Hughes added. “If you're clutching your pearls about calls to defund the police, it's because you still don't believe the police could shoot you and get paid to do so. You don't live in reality.”

Several others also posted in solidarity with them as one user wrote: “I'm not sharing the Jacob Blake video. Adding it to the repository of fuel that keeps me pushing for a better world and empathetic to suffering communities. I don't know how they expect us to be anything but furious.” “I really hope y’all find it in yourselves to STOP SHARING THE VIDEO OF JACOB BLAKE’S ATTEMPTED MURDER!!! - We do NOT need to CONSTANTLY be subjected to our trauma to know that it is REAL, to know that IT IS HAPPENING! We believe it the first time we see Orr. STOP SHARING IT!!!” tweeted another one.

“Jacob Blake, another unarmed Black man was shot by police tonight in Kenosha, WI This is why we won't be silenced and this is why we are fighting to defund the police As a reminder: videos of police violence and murder are extremely triggering. We will not be sharing the video,” wrote a third user.
