'Pennyworth' Season 2 Episode 10 Finale: Martha gives birth to Thomas's child, is it a boy or a girl?

Season 2 of ‘Pennyworth’ has undoubtedly taken the show to a whole new level. The season was much grittier and had a lot of emotional moments. From Alfred (Jack Bannon) breaking Sandra’s heart to Mary Pennyworth (Dorothy Atkinson) telling her son to leave the house, the show had many such moments that made everyone feel bad for the show’s protagonist. However, the biggest question that the makers needed to answer was Martha’s pregnancy.
In Episode 8 of the second season, Martha (Emma Paetz) tells Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge) that she is pregnant and according to his sister, Patricia, she is having a “baby boy”. Fans were really excited to know that they were finally going to see baby Bruce on the show.

However, the makers decided to take a different route and fans, who were expecting to see Bruce on the show, are in for a surprise.
Did Marth give birth to Baby Bruce?
During the last few minutes of the finale, we see PM Victor Aziz and The Queen urging everyone to stand up in the fight against the Raven Union. Martha, who is now just a few days away from delivering the baby, walks up the cabinet and loads a rifle. Thomas tells her that she can’t participate in the war while being pregnant. As Martha was getting ready for the war, her water broke and Thomas quickly calls the midwife for the delivery.
Martha pushes hard to deliver the baby and Thomas is continuously by her side, motivating her. She finally gives birth and it is a GIRL.
In the comics, we know that Martha gives birth to Bruce Wayne. However, in “The New 52,” it was claimed that while Bruce was three years old, Martha was pregnant with a second child named Thomas Wayne Jr. Due to an accident orchestrated by the Court of Owls, the child was born prematurely and supposedly sent to Willowwood Asylum in order to heal. So, it looks like ‘Pennyworth’ has taken a different route and is not sticking to the comics.
It is also possible that the father of the baby girl is not Thomas Wayne. We have seen in Season 1 how there was romance brewing between Alfred and Martha. They both go on a mission and make it out alive. Later that night, when they sit down and share a drink, it doesn’t take too long for both to kiss each other. The kiss surprised a lot of fans and they started floating theories that the kiss could have led to something more. So, it is possible that Alfred might be the father of Martha’s child.
It will be interesting to see how they tackle the storyline from here on because the couple just had a child in the middle of a war. Secondly, how would they change Thomas and Martha’s storyline to stay true to the characters created by DC Comics?
