HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA: A Pennsylvania teen who was shot dead by a convicted pedophile in broad daylight pleaded for his life and yelled "help me" before he was killed, it has been revealed.

MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) previously reported how Kyan King, 16, had been heard crying for help by witnesses living in and around 18th and Forster Streets at around 1 pm on August 29. He was naked and being chased by Orlando Duarte, a 46-year-old registered sex offender, who had allegedly been seen on top of the teen before he fatally shot him.

Police eventually responded to the scene on reports of shots fired, and on arrival, were directed by residents toward the area where Duarte had fled. The 46-year-old, who was armed with a handgun, was apprehended after a short chase. Kyan, who wad found lying on the ground and was unresponsive with gunshot wounds to his chest, was rushed to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead the same evening.

Tracy Burton, who had been the person to call 911, was one of the many witnesses who watched the horrific incident unfold and recalled how Kyan had been "pleading for his life" before he was killed by Duarte. She told PennLive she had been on the porch when she saw the teen running naked and turning to cut between houses as Duarte chased him.

As she and the other neighbors made their way towards those houses, she said they heard him yelling, "help me," which was followed by gunshots. Burton said the boy continued to yell "help me" as the gunshots rang out and that she and the others stopped when they heard the shots. Between the houses, there had been a white fence, which trapped the 16-year-old

Another witness, Avon Burton, similarly recalled that the teen cried for help several times but was shot before anyone could help him. "I watched that boy, lying on the grass naked, get shot," he said. "I hear, 'help, help', after the first shot, then no more. I watched the fire come out of the gun. He was standing over him, he shot him, and then took off running."

Court documents obtained by PennLive stated that a witness had seen Kyan at Duarte's apartment in the 600 Block of North 17th Street earlier that day. Inside the apartment, investigators found a box of .22-caliber shell casings and two letters, one of which was a heartbreaking one penned by the teen where he wrote, "If you're reading this, I'm dead."

Duarte, who is facing criminal homicide and prohibited possession of firearm charges in connection to Kyan's shooting death, reportedly refused to talk to the police and only told them he thought the boy was 18. But the 46-year-old's claim is undoubtedly going to be scrutinized considering his past criminal history that includes two sexual assault cases involving minors.

According to court records, Duarte had been charged with sexually assaulting a seven-year-old boy in Dauphin County in 2007. He was sentenced to six to 23 months of confinement and probation after pleading no contest to charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, indecent assault of a person less than 16, and disorderly conduct.

Then, in 2010, he was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl who had been left in his care. Investigators said she was between six and nine-years-old when the assaults took place. He was sentenced in 2012 to four to eight years in prison and 10 years of probation for charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a person less than 13, unlawful contact with a minor, and corruption of minors.

He added to Pennsylvania’s Megan’s Law registry for  involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and was listed as a lifetime sex offender in 2015 before being released from the State Correctional Institute Camp Hill in May 2018.
