LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Last of Us' has already been renewed for a second season just after streaming two episodes. Following the announcement, executive producer and Naughty Dog co-president, Neil Druckmann, confirmed in a tweet that the second season will follow 'The Last of Us: Part II' game, just as the show's first season is based on the original 'The Last of Us' game (later rebranded as Part I).

The game's success spawned a media franchise, including a comic book in 2013, a live show in 2014, a sequel in 2020, a television adaptation by HBO in 2023, a tabletop game by Themeborne in 2023, an untitled multiplayer game, and an upcoming tabletop game by CMON. However, in the latest HBO series, apart from Pascal and Ramsey, the series also stars, Nico Parker as Joel's daughter Sarah, Gabriel Luna as Joel's younger brother Tommy, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, and Anna Torv as Joel's smuggler partner Tess.

The official Twitter page of the series recently posted a picture of Nick Offerman as Bill. The caption reads, "Welcome to Bill’s town."

Nick Offerman will be seen as Bill, a survivalist who lives with Frank. Con O'Neill was initially cast in the role but was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Show creator, Craig Mazin felt inspired to cast a comedic actor like Offerman because "funny people have soul", citing performances like Bryan Cranston in 'Breaking Bad' and Bob Odenkirk in 'Better Call Saul'. In the first game, Bill is played by W Earl Brown.

However, after the pictures dropped online fans were quick to go on a rampage to express their emotions. A fan said, "NICK OFFERMAN YES YES YES," while another added, "Genuinely so excited for this one!!!" A fan wrote, "Didnt realize Offerman's hair could get more majestic, but there you have it." A fan shared, "Nick Offerman as Bill is some of the best casting I've seen," while another added, "Me waiting for #TheLastOfUs episode 3 to drop on HBO tomorrow!" Lastly, a fan commented, "Can't wait to see another fantastic role aced by @Nick_Offerman," while another said, "Peak television."

As per the official logline, the series “takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pedro Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal and heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”

'The Last of Us' returns to HBO every Sunday with a new episode.
