Contains spoilers for 'Peacemaker' Episode 7 'Stop Dragon My Heart Around'

The penultimate episode of 'Peacemaker' sees the first death of the series and is an emotional affair. James Gunn's writing has been thoroughly incredible and the group dynamic changes drastically over the course of the 39-minute blockbuster. At the heart of it, these are good men and women, trust is a major issue, but Murn's death brings them all together. The opening scene finally clears up the incident between Chris and his brother Keith who are forced to fight in a pit for money. Chris punches his brother unintentionally only for him to convulse and die.

The scene moves to the present day where Chris aka Peacemaker relives the horrid memory and cries. The meltdown worsens when he decides to leave without killing the cow only to be attacked by Augee/White Dragon, his father, who has been tracking him. The ambush is emotionally charged as Chris realizes that his father has been the man behind his anti-hero transformation. It's redeeming when he puts a bullet in his father's head who confronts him and gloats that he's been nothing but a p***y.

Murn dying was inevitable. He was the last good butterfly who had it in him to stop an imminent alien attack, but with Song shooting him to death and squeezing the butterfly, the team now looks at Emilia Harcourt to lead them and finish the mission. Leota Adebayo gets some ample screentime, but this episode is all Cena as he grapples with an internal conflict. The scene where he kills his father is gut-wrenching, but it was a battle that needed to be won. This doesn't suggest that Peacemaker goes on to become a good dude eventually, but he's got heart.

Brad Anderson directs the episode and does a neat job in bringing out the raw emotions. The relationships are a key theme in an episode that sets up a scintillating finale. As for the cow, it's actually a giant pink creature that looks more like a chewed pink bubble gun with many eyes. 'Stop Dragon My Heart Around' has the perfect balance of action, humor, and drama as the series hurtles towards an explosive finish.
