'So violent and threatening': Rep Paul Gosar faces backlash for homophobic tirade against Mark Milley
WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) has ignited controversy by publishing a violent and homophobic tirade against General Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The tirade, released through Gosar's Congressional office newsletter, insinuates that General Milley deserves to be hanged for treason. The newsletter also alleged that federal agencies, including the FBI and DHS, allowed the US Capitol attack by supporters of then-President Donald Trump on January 6, 2021.
Paul Gosar's disturbing accusations
Gosar's newsletter did not mince words when addressing General Milley, accusing him of being a "homosexual-promoting" and "sodomy-promoting" figure.
It also accused Milley of coordinating with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the aftermath of the Capitol riot, expressing agreement with her assessment that President Trump was "crazy" and reassuring her that Trump would not gain control of the nuclear arsenal during his final days in office, Mediaite reported.
Gosar stated, "After the riot was in full swing, the Chief’s request for National Guard was finally approved. But even after approval was given, General Milley, the homosexual-promoting-BLM-activist Chairman of the military joint chiefs, delayed. Of course, we now know that the deviant Milley was coordinating with Nancy Pelosi to hurt President Trump, and treasonously working behind Trump’s back."
"In a better society, quislings like the strange sodomy-promoting General Milley would be hung. He had one boss: President Trump, and instead, he was secretly meeting with Pelosi and coordinating with her to hurt Trump. That is, when he wasn’t also secretly coordinating and sharing intelligence with the Chinese military. How this traitor remains in office is a question we need answered," he added.
This inflammatory rhetoric echoes recent comments made by former President Donald Trump, who also suggested that General Milley deserved capital punishment for his actions to prevent a potential conflict with China.
Trump characterized Milley as a "woke train wreck" who had allegedly shared sensitive information with China about the president's thinking.
"This guy turned out to be a woke train wreck who, if the Fake News reporting is correct, was actually dealing with China to give them a heads up on the thinking of the President of the United States. This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH!" the former president posted on Truth Social.
Social media backlash against Rep Gosar
The reaction to Gosar's tirade on social media has been swift and critical. Many liberals and concerned citizens have called for Gosar's removal from office, labeling his attacks on General Milley as unwarranted and dangerous.
"Arizona’s Paul Gosar is out of control and needs to be removed from office. Believe he’s had a total meltdown. His attacks on General Milley are unwarranted," one posted on X.
"Maybe it’s just me, but it needs to be considered a treasonous crime for both Orange Agolf Twitler and MAGA lunatic neo-Nazi Paul Gosar to call for the execution death of US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Mark Milley. It’s insanity that these criminals are still free to terrorize," another fumed.
"This slander against and libel of Gen Milley is so violent and threatening, why isn’t Paul Gosar disqualified from being in office or ever running again," someone else wrote.
"Arizona, is this who you want representing you?" another added.

Broader implications of Gosar's rant
Gosar's grievances against General Milley stem from claims made in the book 'Peril' by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa. According to the book, Milley made two phone calls to his Chinese counterpart, General Li Zuocheng, in an effort to prevent potential conflicts.
The first call took place on October 30, 2020, where Milley assured China that the US had no plans for military action. The second call occurred on January 8, 2021, following the Capitol riot, with Milley seeking to alleviate Chinese concerns about US government stability.
Former President Trump responded to these claims by suggesting that if they were true, Milley should be tried for treason, as he would have been dealing with China behind the president's back.
Gosar's accusations against General Milley also align with the Republican narrative that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi bears responsibility for the January 6 attack, a viewpoint supported by a House Republican report released in late December, AZ Central reported.
