An American Airlines flight erupted in cheers and applause as a White woman labeled 'Karen' refused to wear a mask and was asked to deboard the flight as a "welcome consequence". Passenger Jordan Slade took a video of the moment that the 'Karen' who was seen with no face covering, was kicked off the flight which was going from Ohio to North Carolina on July 19.

Slade said that the woman had claimed she wasn't wearing the mask as she had a medical condition. While the woman gathered up her belongings and stormed off, other passengers started to clap and cheer.

As the people started to celebrate, the woman was seen turning around in anger and saying, "You can clap all you want." Two masked American Airlines employees had been seen at the head of the plane in order to escort the woman out.

One passenger retaliated and yelled back at the woman, "Just leave. We have flights to get on." While speaking to Daily Mail, Slade said, "She was argumentative from the gate."

"She demanded to be boarded first and was causing an obvious scene. Once boarded she was making phone calls and arguing with the attendant when asked to put her phone away," Slade continued.

"She also refused to wear a mask putting others on the flight at risk... Another passenger even got up to confront her about her behavior with no mask," Slade added.

The 'Karen' had spent so much time arguing about the mask that after she was kicked off the flight, the plane had to go back to the airport to refuel.

Slade shared, "A woman in the back got up from her seat and sort of confronted the attendant saying she was going to miss her connection and then directed the conversation back to the woman saying if she misses her flight because of her."

'Karen' has become a popular moniker to describe middle-aged women who talk down to people with differing opinions or are overly sensitive.

Many social media users slammed the 'Karen' for her bad behavior and took to the comments section. One such user wrote, "Why the hell would someone pay for a flight and then forfeit their seat because they’re too stubborn to wear a mask? Why bother buying a ticket? How long was this flight? Surely it couldn’t be more than a few hours? Crazy."

Another commented, "She thinks rules and common sense don’t apply to her. She has THREE carry on bags on a small express jet. She should have been denied boarding for that reason alone, if not denied for not wearing a mask. When she stops being a part of the solution she becomes the problem."

"I just can’t believe her arrogance toward other human beings. I love the way the other passengers clapped as she left. I don’t usually agree with calling people out, but she deserves it; as she selfishly refuses to protect others, even as they protect her," said yet another.

Another Twitter user who echoed the sentiments wrote, "I find it interesting That she apologized for nearly dropping her luggage on Someone obviously concerned that she could have physically hurt someone. How does she not get that she could also hurt someone by not wearing a mask? How inconsistent is that?"
